Messaging menu?

I've had the vortex for a few months and its been a great phone but today i accidently delete the messaging menu that would show text messages at the main screen and be easy to get from person to person messages. So is there any way to get this back or is there no way to get it back?

Was it a widget? Maybe adding the widgets to that screen and see if a messaging one shows up?
