I wouldn't doubt this at all. The key here is simple: toggle 4G off when not in use to avoid background apps draining the battery and whatnot and use wifi whenever possible.
Chill out. I own the Thunderbolt. It's the only phone giving you talk and data at the same time. I want to make it work. At the same time, we have to face facts.Perhaps you should look at the attachments again. Nowhere does it say 7 hours. Are you crazy or just blatantly lying? You Bolt haters are insane. LOOK AT THE PHOTO. IT CLEARLY SAYS 13 HRS. 13 hrs of light and medium usage throughout the day/afternoon and it's only drained 40%? So my phone can last more than a whole day on a single charge with light-med use. I feel confident I can easily get 8-12 hrs of heavy use. This'll be my next test. That's not a lot of usage to have the phone drained to 61% in only 7 or so hours.
Look, if you don't like the Bolt, it's cool. Throw it away, stomp on it, give it to me, eat it, I don't care. Just stop saying the battery life is horrible when you're running it like a slave horse all day long. That is typical of everything.
Turning off all of those things is limiting... Its an extra step that limits my phones ability that I shouldn't have to do. I can run my iPhone literally all day without disabling a bunch of things. I need to charge the TB 2 times daily for the same amount of use. I have already done everything needed for the battery to calibrate. I'm a long tenured Android user, all the way back to the Dream, and the battery life has never been good, but this is ridiculous. My D1 last far longer with heavy heavy usage, and that's with a 14 month old battery!!!!!
Turning off those options is not limiting it, it's called using common sense. Why am I going to run GPS when I don't need it? Why am I going to leave Bluetooth running when I don't need it? This adds another vulnerability to your phone anyway, allowing someone with the know-how to hack your phone via BT. It's not like toggling these options takes me longer than 10 seconds or forces me to go through a bunch of menus. I merely flick the screen, press a button, and voila -- instant toggle. Again, this is obviously not limiting the phone because if I need to use GPS, BT, etc., then I merely toggle it on and presto -- instant toggle.
If you want to leave battery-draining options running that would kill any battery, then so be it. You're going to be charging two times a day. This is not a battery issue, this is a user issue.
If you are smart with your smartphone, it's going to last. Simple as that.
On a related note, I bump charged my phone this morning while getting ready for work. I walked out the door with a full bump charge. I lightly used my phone throughout the day due to work. I spoke on the phone, sent some texts, used 3G a few times, etc. About 4 hours ago, I started using it a little more heavier for texting, talking, and wifi. Attached are some pics I just took with my Droid within the last 10 minutes.
I had Gtalk on by accident - it drained the phone 10-15% per hour. This might be of assistance to you about the battery. I'm going to get the extended because I need messenger to communicate with some people and don't want to worry excessively about the battery. If this is important to you, consider the extended otherwise use more texts (which may cost you too instead of using it for a battery.)I know but I use kik messenger to communicate with my girlfriend so i always need my data enabled
"If Apple can do it, Droid can do it better" isn't this why we are all Droid owners?
Forget 3D screens, forget dual core, forget all that fancy stuff. Just give me a basic phone I can use and leave my GPS on, WiFi, BT, surf web, make calls and check email for 1 full day without charging and I will pay $300 for it (with an upgrade), $700 w/out upgrade.:icon_ banana:
Here's one that's even more powerful for a little less money.
New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh External Battery Pack and Charger
Found it on Amazon for $80. Many options for when you're away from a power source. Personally, I'm getting one of these cool hats and rewiring it for my mini-USB.:icon_ banana:

For the first time I can realistically see myself returning this phone. You guys have legitimate gripes, and I have a 2 week guarantee with a company that I have been loyal to for 7 years +.
Keep telling me why I should give up on the Thunderbolt. I will copy, paste & print these gripes out if and when I decide to return it.
You guys have bummed me out, but made me face reality. I didn't get this phone cheaply and if I pay top dollar I want top results.
Nahh... I just think they goofed with this phone. It's a momentary intro before all the dual core Droids come out and has specs that are totally wrong and anyone with a modicum of tech savvy could have provided correctly. Not sure whose fault this is - HTC or VZW. Expectations were high and they put a tiny battery in the phone and told everyone that 8GB of internal storage was coming with the phone, just like the Incredible. No HDMI out either in addition to no 1080 recording... was a surprise.I think if they released it sooner, they wouldn't have as many people complaining, but with all the delays (although they never said it would be released February) and the people from reading this forum the last 2 months and their expectations (it's almost like a cult following)...we are just a bit disappointed. It's like going to a busy busy restaurant and waiting 1 hour to get a seat, then you finally get a seat, order the food and the food tastes worst than McDonalds you had the night before.
I would probably still get this phone once Costo starts stocking them, but it depends on if the other competitors release their newer Droids.
