Edit: with gmail and fb syncing I don't have any use for stocks and what not so those I have disabled all I have done is lower the backlight once I have root I will post screen shots

The screen/display on the X is superior to the TB? Have you held them side by side?

The TB's looks much better. I've asked other people (who either have a DX or by holding my old one side to side) and they all agreed.

The X's screen is superior... And to all you people saying your battery lasts all day... You must be doing next to nothing with your phone. With what I consider light use I get less than 8 hrs on a charge. This battery life is flat out unacceptable. I hate to say I don't believe you guys, but I don't believe you guys. You gotta show some screen caps. There is NO way any of you got more than 12 hours off a charge without severely limiting what your phone can do. Don't tell me to turn off sync and all of that stuff, because if I'm going to do all that what's the point of even having the features? I need push email and I need my GPS...

I don't get why you guys think limiting what you can do is acceptable...

Probably will be returned. Play will be out in a month, Bionic could be too. Both will probably be better options.

The Thunderbolt's screen is superior.

I can see some are taking this seriously...I can't wait to post screens, been using this thing all day. Is there a way to do it without root?

Nope, I am not limiting my phone at all. I simply conditioned the battery with a couple charges, bump charged it once, and it ran me 24hrs (no lie) straight with medium usage. This was texting all day, using 3G/wifi to download apps and browse the web, playing games, streaming videos, talking on the phone, etc. I just don't leave Bluetooth, GPS, wifi, and 3G running when not in use. I simply toggle them off. I also keep it 25% brightness because that's plenty bright for me. I'm not afraid to go 100% when its bright out, but if I don't need it at 100%, then I'm not going to waste the battery. Also, I don't really use many widgets other than power control toggles and a sticky pad. Get rid of FriendStream because that was a huge drain on my battery.

Exactly!

So you're not in a 4G area since you using 3G for downloading. That might be the reason for not draining real quick

I would wait another week or so before returning it. This is the first LTE device on Verizon so expecting it to be perfect out if the box is unrealistic. I'm sure HTC will be sending out an update to improve the battery and the couple other small quarks very shortly

Not going to happen. My friends have the EVO and still complain the battery life is short. The Thunderbolt's tiny battery was designed only to satisfy those who use the phone occasionally. A software update isn't going to magically add a huge improvement to the battery life of this phone so it can approach the numbers stated in the specs. I think it's embarrassing enough that you can't see or grab the data on the Internal drive, which is only listed at 2.5GB.

BTW, did anyone reformat the internal SD card? I was wondering if it formats for more than the 29.7GB that is listed.

Turning off all of those things is limiting... Its an extra step that limits my phones ability that I shouldn't have to do. I can run my iPhone literally all day without disabling a bunch of things. I need to charge the TB 2 times daily for the same amount of use. I have already done everything needed for the battery to calibrate. I'm a long tenured Android user, all the way back to the Dream, and the battery life has never been good, but this is ridiculous. My D1 last far longer with heavy heavy usage, and that's with a 14 month old battery!!!!!

I don't see how its possible with my kinda use for this phone to last 12+ hours..

does anyone know where to get a good extended battery?

Since from what I've read the 4g taking up so much battery, I ordered one of these in anticipation of getting a 4g phone (TB). They are made by Honda and you have to order a separate cart for it.

To solve our cans toggle our 4g problem on our shiny new thunderbolts go into the market and download phone info by Taiwan. Yes type all of it get the app open it. go to phone setting then network type select evdo only and watch it magically change from 4g to 3g. And it does save battery maybe we don't need that bulky extended one after all.

OMG, this was the BEST response!! It's how I felt the first two days. I'm glad to say that the phone does last all day for me now without using the Honda 2000i!!

I have held them side by side. My wife has an X, so I have done several comparisons. Colors on the TB screen are richer, but they are not as clear.

I usually plug in all night because once I had full charge before bed & woke up to a dead battery so I did an experiment and had a 63% charge before bed so this time I put it in Airplane mode. Woke up to check...still right at 63% :o At least that solves the overnight drain
