MIUI 3D Gallery

I dont know whats going on here,

In Root Explorer I renamed Gallery3d.apk to Gallery3d.bak
Then moved the new gallery to system\app\ and rebooted
no change.

I ran the new apk in system\app installedn
no change.

then i deleted the new apk in system\app\ and installed from my SD card
no change.

No matter what i have tried i see no change in my gallery?

Speed is the change. I believe it looks the same.

soo it still looks like the old one?

thats what i was beginning to speculate, but I figured it would have been mentioned by now... especially with a screenshot showing otherwise

It was already mentioned in the OP though it isn't glaringly obvious since it's in the middle of all the other text that is much more important ;):

...BTW folks don't be fooled like I was in thinking that they skinned Galler3D. LOL @ me... they didn't. The pic below is just a screencap of a blue image the has been opened up in gallery...

I read that three times, but I read it to say something like this: "This is not just a themed gallery"

The verbiage made it a bit confusing

Okay, i have never pushed anything into my phone and i have terminal and root explorer (just bought it) could someone please explain the easiest way for me to install this in the (pushing for dummy terms), like real step by step. There are a few things yet i cant do wit this phone like go into files an change framework and push stuff would really like to learn, so i dont have to ask this kinda stuff any help would be greatly appreciative THANK YOU!!!

If you have root explorer you don't need to push anything. Using root explorer navigate to your sdcard and copy the apk. Navigate to /system/app and press the "Mount R/W" button then paste the apk. After that press and hold on the apk, from the context menu hit permissions. On the permission screen check the following boxes User: Read, Write. Group: Read. Others: Read. All others should be unchecked. After you've done that reboot your phone and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the help one question though the apk came in a zip file i unzipped it looking for an apk file with no avail could u shed some light???

Rename from zip to apk I believe.

I think after switching to this Gallery (which is awesomely fast) I can no longer change my lockscreen wallpaper from the Gallery, I can only choose one of the defaults that come with MIUI. It doesn't give me the option to choose something from the Gallery basically.

Run fix permissions. Mine works fine.

Still only lets me choose from the default 6 wallpapers, still doesn't give me an option to pick an image from the Gallery. My normal desktop background works fine though.

That's weird.

whats with the black lines under the folder structure icons? i've been noticing those on CM6 as well.

Not a clue, I saw that as well. It sure runs smooth though. HUGE improvement over the default version. It was almost unusable for me before, now it flies!
