Mobile App Thread for discussin

Well, we got ours thru Verizon, because they didn't have FIOS in our area, so it was part of a package deal.

Wish I could have dumped those channels and had more movie channels.

Made a proposal once to a cable company to develop a "Geek" package:

no sports channels and an upped internet 15-20 Mbit/sec DL speed :icon_ devil:

Yesssss! Can't wait to check this out, been needing needing this for when I'm out n about:icon_ banana:

I think you'll like it a lot. It's a must have if you are a directv sub for sure :)

Yup, I'm a DTV subscriber for over 10 years, mostly converted because of the NFL package. I was stoked when they released the NFL Super Fan App, being able to watch the games anywhere I went was sweeeet!

So I downloaded this new app last night, logged in and tried a few shows to record but no love :( Does anyone know if the phone line has to be plugged in? I gave up the Land line awhile back and one of my 4 receivers is an older hughes directivo series1 - "GXCEBOT" It does not have an ethernet adapter built in so I'm wondering if this would impact using the app? Just thought I would ask as I haven't gotten around to reading up on it yet ;)

Anyways I'm downloading the update now and will try again when I get home in a few hours and see whats up...

***And I just read the last post, can't wait to get home to confirm!

First let me say that DVR's do not need to be networked. The record command is sent from the satellite. IA phone line does not havve to be plugged in either. What other recievers do you have?

I like this!

Now, Anomander brings up a good point.

I just tested by setting a show to record, now because I used my DTV logon, I had access, and it said it was successful, but int he back of my mind, I'm wondering "Does my DVR need to be on my home network (internet) for this to work? Or is it going to send the commands down to it thru the sat?"

Now, I'm leaning towards the latter. If the former though, that would be kewl.
(I havent yet put by DVR online, need to get the wifi box for it, my living room one though, can go wired as soon as I cut the holes for the jackboxes hehehe)

IMPORTANT UPDATE!: I can confirm this goes thru the satellite!

As I stated above, my DVR box is not hooked to the net, nor phone line, but the programs I set with the app were in the guide, set to record as promised!!!!!

Too KEWL !!! :icon_ devil:

Excellent! Yes it's from the satellite as you know. Enjoy!

Oh trust me, I AM ... hehehehe.

Still have to hook it up one day to get the wife the on demand service though.

Thanks for confirming that, I wasn't sure.

All my other receivers are DTV HDDVR's, model# HR22-100, they all worked with the app, just no love from the older Hughes non-HD unit. The older receiver is listed there in the app and I double checked the receiver info on directv's website, they match. I did try again when I got home with the updated app but still no love:frown:

This app would be ALOT better if you could pull up the shows that your DVR has available to verify the recording remotely or if for no other reason than verifying you have enough space to record a show you want to put on your DVR.

Although I'm sure Verizon might not like this idea, but it would be cool if the app worked like DirecTV's PC app "DIRECTV2PC" so we would be able to watch our DVR shows via our Droid.

That is way cool you were able to get your show recorded that way. I tried 3 times on some shows and none of them recorded, nor did the recording light show up. As soon as I got my DVR on my wireless network and had my droid record the show I was watching about 10 seconds later the recording light came on.

I might try and see if I can get it to record without being on my network. It would be nice if it would.

Still Not Working

I keep getting DIRECTV Application encountered Technical Difficulty. Please try again...............
Is any one else getting this. I am using my Droid, but not having much luck. I would really like to get this to work correctly. It does this after I click to record a show.
Thanks, I love the forum!

Please download the latest version 1.1.9 is now available. Doublecheck you user name and password. The app uses the same ones on the Directv account. Reply back here once you've done this :)

I am now getting farther than I did before, but I am still not able to set recordings. I was getting the message right after pushing the button to RECORD THIS EPISODE....I get an error that states..."Currently, your receivers do not support remote Recorde Series requests" I think this is because I have an older non HD hughes box. I beleive it is an HDVR2 model. I click OK and am given the choice of choosing a receiver....When I click the drop down arrow i get the following..."Sorry, The application DIRECTV (process com.directv.dvrscheduler) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I have gone through the directv mobile site and successfully set a recording and it shows up on our DVR. Still just having issues with the app. Thanks so much for the help. This would really be sweet to have working. If you need any other info please let me know..
BTW I love the droid and I love this forum!!
Thanks,
Rodney

I am not sure why this is happening with your setup but I am 100% positive the your DVR's do not need to be networked.

First I agree beng able to see how much recording space if available would be awesome. I also know the Fios app can do that, but I do believe that would require atleast everyone's DVR's to be network and i'm sure more than that on the back end. The option Record if possible is there or definately record too. The latter means if you have no room. the show you have set to record will move something out of the dvr

Not very impressed. I've been able to set recordings with my phone since it came out. But what I want is a slingbox app. Supposedly sling is working on some software for it, just haven't heard of a release date. Anyone?

m.directv.com has been around. The app in not an extension of that site. Besides that site is for BB users :icon_ devil:.

As far as sling goes. I ahve no information other than at some point maybe. I do know that the sling app is $30 on Winmo and the Iphone also :)

Miami, should I repost this over at DBSTalk.com?

I checked the forum over there and you respoted Rodney's but I wasn't sure if you were going to re-post my issue? Thought I'd ask first...:)
