Motorola Droid Case Reviews

This is my first post here, so hello y'all! I've read pretty much everything in this thread, and it's pretty informative. However, I don't really need a pouch like most of you men do. I would imagine that keeping a phone in a back pocket or a briefcase would require a pouch. But being a woman and always having a purse by my side (with an inner pocket for a cellphone), what I want is a snap-on cover for my new Droid (which I actually won't receive in the mail for a couple of days!) My girlfriend has the black texturized, rubberized one that's from Verizon and she loves it. I don't want a black one or even the pink rubberized one they offer, so what are my options? I've looked online and found a blue one, also a red one I'd like. But how do I know if they'll actually fit the Motorola Droid if they're made by a 3rd party? I've seen posts on here and on other Forums by people who bought them online and then were sorry because they were either bad quality or didn't fit properly. Anyone who was happy with what they found? I'm such a newbie and really need some help with this.

Thanks so much.

Annie

My recommendation is a Seidio Innocase. They fit excellently and also come in different colors. I had one of the Verizon cases and the fit was very mediocre. For the same money, the Seidio is far superior.

Motorola Droid case

Jim,

Thanks so much for replying to my post. I looked at those cases and while they offered the right colors, they look more like a hard case than the rubberized one that Verizon offers. I need something a little "grippy" so it doesn't fall out of my klutzy hands. Also, some of the reviews that were on that site said that the back case which is on the querty slide-out keyboard doesn't fit quite right and gets in the way. So I'm just not sure about that one. I may have to cave and get the pink case (ugh) if I don't find an alternative. Why doesn't Verizon offer lots of colors instead of just two? Makes no sense, unless they're planning on abandoning the phone and moving onto future Droid choices. Anyone else have ideas about the kind of case I'm looking for??

What about this case?

I just found this online: www.wirelessemporium.com/products/motorola-droid-a855-cases-pouches-motorola-droid-a855-snap-on-rubberized-protector-case-blue.asp
Anyone ever hear of this site/manufacturer? I realize it's inexpensive, but I just want to be sure it fits and not have to deal with returns and all that nasty stuff. I hate that Verizon only came out with black (which my girlfriend already has) and pink (which I hate). I don't want to run the risk of running out the door with the wrong phone ;-)

Thanks, everyone!

Annie

I am having same thing, Also having a good gps and alarm clock so I don't need to use it on the phone. I have bought the body glove and it works good for me specially. Optional belt clip that I don't use but might be good for other people. This case makes the phone bigger, though I'm sure they all do. I'd rather worry about protecting the phone than how big the case is. phone slides open like normal. I am happy with it.

I got the snap-on Silicone cover for my Motorola Droid. I really like it. I had a bodyguard cover for my Voyager awhile back but I didn't like it because it made my phone a lot bigger causing it to get stuck in my pockets.

Only downside to the snap-on cover is I bought a home dock for the Droid also and I need to take my cover off to dock it correctly. Although I can just set my phone on the dock in the right position to get the multimedia screen it is tough to balance it with the charger plugged in also. I think I am going to return the multimedia dock for this reason. It is not as cool as I thought it would be.

i hope some third party company will make a dock which supports the droid with a case on it..

SEIDIOONLINE.... Nice stuff!

I had the same issue with the Body Glove and I found the SEIDIO site. They have a Dock and case that will work together and it is cheaper then the BG and Motorola dock. I just ordered mine and should be here by mid week.. I will take a few pics and report back..

Looking for a good, clear case so I can proudly display my Skinit. Is there such a thing? A cursory search only found some cases that look sorta crappy. any suggestions would be welcomed.

I'm not really sure if I'm one of the few that do this or if many do, but I just use the front half of the case to protect my screen. Before my droid, I had a plam treo 755p and I absolutely loved it. Not once did I scratch my screen and not once did I put a case on it. If your familiar with treos, you realize that the screen isn't flat with the surface of the phone and is indented into the phone. In my opinion, this is the best way to make a phone because with that way, if the phone is dropped face down on the ground, nothing will even touch the screen considering that it is indented into the phone. In regards to my droid, considering I only use the front half of the case, theres really not a huge difference from case to case. I originally purchased one of the cheap cases from one of the kiosks in the mall, but obviously, it broke (surprise surprise). I then purchased a shiny black xentris case from best buy. I was very surprised with how much the shiny black finish looked so much better than the dull black one that most cases have including the one I purchased from the mall. I still have yet to scratch the screen on my droid at all, and if you use the Motorola car dock, as I do, using the front only case is obviously the only way to make it fit. Basically no bulk is added to the phone and the front case looks very natural. Here is the link to the case

Would I have better luck reposting this elsewhere on the Forum? I really need an answer, if anyone has one.

Thanks.

Many people have told you the same thing i will and that is to go with a Seidio case. It has a grippy feel to it so you wont have to worry about that. There are only 2 cases that are good quality for the droid and that is the Seidio case and an Otterbox case and they both range in price from $30-$40. Otterbox is not a rubberized feel so go with the Seidio case.

Your other option for a decent quality case would be Body Glove.

Same here,
Just had a Seidio posted all the way to Australia based on feedback from this forum. (great service and communication from Seidio too)
Fits perfectly, little added bulk and the rubberised surface texture feels quite nice. I got the black, which isn't bad - but I'm kind of wishing I had gone for one of the coloured ones instead.
Instructions were good and it doesn't seem to have affected the slide in any way - some generic cases have reports of lifting the screen part away from the body of the phone - causing a permanent gap.
I also got the car dock and the phone fits snugly in that with the case on.
Screen protector that I also ordered is OK, easy to put on, not tacky feeling and resists fingerprints - but scratches easily - my credit card scratched it during application. Lucky I bought the two pack and I'll be more careful next time.

So, what do you guys think the best case is? Right now, I am using the clear snap-on cover one from Verizon and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get off. I am going to a VZW store tomorrow to get them to do it for me lol. I am just looking for a case, and maybe a clip too..haven't decided yet..just whichever one is better and isn't IMPOSSIBLE to get off haha.

I would have to vouch for the Seidio Innocase options for the Droid. They add very little bulk and feel very good in the hand.

I had some experience with the cases from the VZW store and I was rather displeased but the Seidio has been excellent.

Ya, this snap on cover I have is ridiculous to get off. Anyway, so you recommend the Seidio? What is really different between that and Otterbox? Just Otterbox is a bit bigger?

Thanks,
Curt
