Motorola Droid Update Continues Through Sept 4

I didn't get the 01B update until 2 days after it was supposed to be rolled out. Talk about being at the bottom of the list!

Droid update (FRG22D) bricked my phone. After the update my phone runs for about a minute and then hangs; requires a battery pull to recover. How to I get back to the previous Froyo update? The first one a few weeks ago was fine; this one is a bricker.

You were more like at the top of the list. I think it took 10 days to get it to everybody. I know it was at least a week before I got it.

UPDATE: So after a back and forth experience with customer service they finally told me that Motorola has told them that to have exchange access you have to be at 2.1 so a new phone is on the way because they cannot roll back the 2.2 on my phone. So if you want exchange access you may want to seriously consider saying NO to this update. New phone will be here Tuesday and I'll update again then.

Great forum. Got the update this morning and it killed my OWA exchange access. It Forces Close every time I try to set up the incoming settings. Called Verizon and they were "surprised" even though it's all over the web that the update is causing exchange problems. I'm taking it to the store tomorrow to have the update undone. Hope it works, it's a big part of why I have this phone.

FYI...Just talk to customer support. He said they are doing 50,000/day and won't be complete until end of month.

This isn't happening to every FRG22D / Exchange user. I'm running FRG22D and I've been getting Exchange mail from my work since I loaded it, and have had no functional change related to security on my Droid, nor have I had any stability issues related to accessing EMail. I suspect my Exchange server at work simply is not using whatever feature causes these issues.

Because this doesn't happen to everyone using FRG22D and Exchange, VZW is going to have trouble really finding out what is going on. They may forward the issue on to Moto and/or Google. But in the mean time they did the right thing in sending another phone out to you, their charter is to get you running again ASAP.

Nice that yours is working. I guess its a unique combination of exchange server settings and the new 2.2 security settings. Hopefully VZW figures it out so they can at least inform people and they can choose whether to upgrade with confidence.
