Much simpler guide for rooting (no pc required)

Flipp you need to wait longer for the progress to complete. That was my problem, but then I did it and waited longer and once it showed the forked part it was complete.

:) rooted :). Easy as cake.

hint: to make trying in terminal. rename the rage file to something easy like rage.bin or something.
 
Confused

Not quite new but getting nowhere. any help appriciated. stopped right at the beginning yea laugh no worries. type cd/tmp and get file not found error. Using better terminal emulator. have extracted files nessesary to sdcard. thanks

its "cd /tmp" ther is a space between cd and /temp.
 
np. I had same prob, but after i got SU prem.

lol. I was doing this off an ipod so the spaces were hard to see xD. But this is simple and easy to do.

Just let me know if you have any more trob.
 
If I root using this method, can I then use Rom Manager to flash back to stock 2.2 like I did with my Droid 1 before I sent it back?
 
/tmp $ chmod 777 rage*.bin
chmod: rage*.bin: No such file or directory
/tmp $

all files are in the root of the sdcard. i can not get past here for the life of me.
 
Does this method still work to gain root access? I tried it twice after receiving the update last night, and I failed to get root both times with this method.
