My problems.

The phone runs alittle hot.Doubt battery will last long because of this.
New phone could use better circuitry to run cooler an longer.

when wanting to quit music you need to clear playlist. They should just implement a stop button and clear playlist button from the play screen. And a quit button from the notifications drop down menu.

Don't understand why this phone has a slide out keyboard. It's useless to me and adds wieght and bulk. Get rid of it!

When trying to talk to someone on the phone the screen goes into sleep mode while talking. No matter the fact my settings say two minutes.Even after pressing the button to wake it up sometimes it imediatly goes back to sleep. This is annoying and is a bug. When the call is over I think the screen should wake up as well. Please fix it!

Music as ringtones.
Droid should be able to take your music you select and keep them in the ringtones when you select a new song as a ringtone.I want to be able to use different songs as ringtones without a bunch of work involved.

copy and paste music.
I would like to be able attach music in my text and e-mails.Easily.

That's all I got for now.

Under constant use... Li-Ion heats up. Period. It happens in all Li-Ion batteries. It has absolutely nothing to do with "better circuitry"

You do NOT need to clear your playlist to stop listening to music... I have no idea what you are doing here though to come to that conclusion, so I will not expand upon this.

The Droid is 13.7 mm thick and is the thinnest smartphone with a physical keyboard on the market, and is only slightly thicker than the iPhone (12.3). They keyboard, admittedly does take some getting used to, but is not by any means uesless. I laugh at how people complain that it is "too flat." Tell me, just how flat is that virtual keyboard on a piece of glass. For only 1.3 mm of difference, you have an option to use a real keyboard or the virtual one.

Are you using the phone on speaker? Because with the proximity sensor, the phone does wake up at the end of a call, or when you move the phone away from your face. On speaker and with Bluetooth, you are right... that is a "feature" that needs to be rethought (I disagree that it is a bug, because it was designed that way... now whether we like it or not is a whole other story). In the meantime there are things you can download, like the Screen Mode Widget that will allow you to keep your screen on (This is the great thing about an open development platform).

For Ringtones, again I will point you to the Android Market, where apps like Tone Picker enable Android to work the way you want it to. The same probably holds true for enabling music to be attached to e-mails, but I have not looked into that one.

What I think you miss with the Android platform, is that it is just that... a platform. The beauty is in its simplicity. It can be tailored and customized to fit the way you want to work, which is different than the way I want to work, as opposed to platforms which make the decisions for you and it becomes take it or leave it.

whatever dude.Don't get me wrong I love my phone. But I don't think U understand...I know the phone has a platform. But a good base has it's features too. These are the things I dislike. And I believe the masses will agree with me.I know how batterys work.I don't need any lessons from you.Either way the phone can be improved and it will. These are just ideas and suggestions to do so.I am not here to fight with loyalist.Ideas and suggestions is why I am here.

I'm not trying to fight with you, I am trying to assist you with some ideas that may enable you to get what you want.

You buy a phone with a physical keyboard, and you suggest to "get rid of the keyboard"? My suggestion would be... if you want an iPhone... then just go get an iPhone.

but as you say... whatever.

There you go again.Assuming and defending.I bought my phone because of verizons service and it's features. Some of it's features I dislike.Like the keyboard. It's pointless. The touchscreen works soo good and is easier to use. Please don't post anything in here anymore unless you have some real input like about the apps you posted earlier and the phones speaker thing and proximity sensor I didn't know about. Thanks

Why couldn't you post a simple thank-you?

People are not here to argue with you they are here to help and assist you.

All cellphones heat up when you're under heavy usage.
when wanting to quit music you need to clear playlist. They should just implement a stop button and clear playlist button from the play screen. And a quit button from the notifications drop down menu.
Just hit pause and go back to the home menu... no need to clear playlist or 'stop'. The OS handles this

It was there when you bought it. Some of us love it.

When the call is over the phone DOES wake up (unless you're using speaker, in which case press the power button to re-awake) Possible user error (long hair, finger in the way, etc)

very very very minimal work here. Create 2 folders on your SD card... one called "ringtones" and one called "notifications" drop in the files you want to use for each. they will show up in the selection list when you choose notifications in any app.

Menu > attach.... that's it.

Some simple answers... don't take it as an attack.

This is the type of help I was looking for.I don't need loyalist attacking me because they feel I am putting down there phone. It is a great phone with great features I am just trying to spread the word so engineers can get some input and make things better. Thanks martin.I appreciate it.

And to the mod.I would have just said thanks if I didn't feel I was being attacked. No need to assume and defend everything.Just simple advice and suggesions would have been best.

But the cell phone still has a heat problem.Due to doing so much work in a confined package. It would benefit from better circuitry.

my phone when using speaker goes into sleep. It is hard to keep the phone awake long enough to end a call. This is a bug.

Glad you didn't take offense... I was just trying to give you some answers or direction to an answer.

You can try an app called "Screebl" Screebl Lite v1.8.7 Application for Android | Tools which will keep the phone 'awake' based on settings. (I don't have installed so not familiar with how to set)
I use a similar app called "Keep Screen" KeepScreen (now free) v1.7 Application for Android | Tools to keep my phone from going to 'sleep'. However, I have not tried to set it for during a phone call on speaker... the list only gives me the option for 'phone dialer' to keep awake. (I use the app for Navigation and browsing, so my screen won't lock)

Simple solution for the keyboad buy a case that keeps it closed. There have been recent threads from other ppl with this same request or "problem" as you called it. I'm using it now and find myself using it more and more.

Battery heat happens with all smart phones with huge screens especially. You might try killing apps that are running in the background that keep ur processor going. I came from a bb storm and this phone has not got nearly as hot as that one.

And the title of your thread and your post in general seemed more like a rant then anything else. I am in no way attacking you at all, just giving some advice you can take or ignore. And some browsing about the boards can help you get this phone to function as smooth as you like. You just have to look for it.

No rant just simple problems and ideas.Help and advice is appreciated. That's what forums are for.Discussion.I dont open my phone at all and have not had a problem with it opening.I just think they could use the space for more/better circuitry or lighten it up and make it slimmer.

The difference between Martin's answers and mine is that I tried to give complete answers (no knock against Martin) so that it was hopefully beneficial not only to you but to others that come and read it with similar questions.

I'm sorry that in doing so I injured you ego and offended you so.

There's a big difference in the answers... mine were RED! lol.

I for one wouldn't have even considered buying the Droid if it weren't for the physical keyboard, I love it! I hate using the virtual keyboard and wish that it weren't taking up valuable memory in my Droid.

OK, that last part was a bit sarcastic...but hey, different strokes for different folks. A product that will please everyone is virtually impossible to make.

Seriously though, if the virtual keyboard disappeared forever, I probably wouldn't notice.
