Hello all...

I was directed to check out this post and it doesn't disappoint.. glad to see the rabid interest ina device that I tweeted about. I can see u have alot of good information already and although I wish I could share more alas I can not. I simply share infromation to keep customers informed not to get fame... Lot of moving targets on this device about radio, screen n final specs but I will be keeping an eye on this thread to help when I can. For those that doubt me and my history I can only say take the information for what you will.

So no rooting whatsoever? hmmmm....

I can MOSTLY live without that. I might miss Tethering Wirelessly (illegally?)....
I will miss Saphire and trying different Roms and themes...

Is there any chance this could be rooted? ANY???? even if it can't be themed or ROM'ed... just so I dont waste my rooted apps I bought two months ago????

a locked boot loader isnt that big of a deal to me but one that i cant reboot without breaking root IS!

i read they OC'd the G2 at 1.6ghz so what do you have to reflash that kernal and root everytime your reboot your phone? that doesnt make sense.. i must be missing something.. anyone chime in?

So let me take a wild guess. You're disagreeing about there being two separate phones.

Correction, was just pointed to the other post. I can't keep up with how fast y'all are posting at this point. You're costing me serious worktime.

the g2 uses an app called visionary. you download from the market and it roots your phone. the app will reboot your phone automatically every time you reboot.

I mainly rooted so I can have a smoother experience. The Droid 1, I found is very choppy, suffers from redraw syndrome, etc... Rooting, using a custom launcher, etc all helped this. I hope the DINC HD is so fast and has enough memory where I don't have to do all of this. Now rooting and using custom launchers allows a very personal experience. THAT, I will miss if I can't do it (well I can do the Launcher part since that doesn't require root)... so I think I'd still be willing to sacrifice rooting on this phone....

...now if only we had more tidbits on it (specs, pics, features...) then i'd know?

Stupid Verizon/HTC. If this is really coming out 23rd and I assume it will since two devices seems to have been confirmed by Miami, why don't they let some things out??? The general public does not care about this. That is 99% of their shoppers. They are still being fooled by the X's, Galaxies, and other devices that are "so six months ago"... throw us a bone and open up the can already!!!

Thanks, it's actually hard keeping up with this thread with the interest.

I was thinking about it earlier. This is much the same thing as was done with the original Incredible. To my memory, there were no commercials whatsoever until AFTER release, everything was done on forums ahead of time. And the stir had demand through the roof.

Rather brilliant marketing, I might say.
