Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

Lol @ all the hype. ;)

I think we are all playing right into VZW's hands. They have the device we want...and one of our own - Miami has access to information - yet as long as the machine keeps running and interest builds they will hold him off from sharing it with us.

How many of you want to take odds that we won't see pictures until next week!!!

I spoke with Verizon this morning about canceling my contract because I was dissatisfied with their current line up of Android phones. When I mentioned I preferred stock Android, the rep advised me that I should wait until after Thanksgiving before making any decisions.

Could be locking me in for another month though. I really want to step up from my Droid 1, but nothing's really come close to it.

Add me to the list of those anxiously awaiting the release of the Dinc HD 3g. I'm glad to have this thread to follow. Now that blackmannx has joined miami1683 here to offer the occasional insight, I'll definitely be reading this thread often. Here's hoping for a Nov 23rd release, I'll jump for sure if it's out by the end of this year. :)

Just noticed that HTC is apparently holding a GDGT event on Friday in San Francisco. Maybe they'll announce the DInc HD there? :)

Here's hoping.

So no rooting whatsoever? hmmmm....

I can MOSTLY live without that. I might miss Tethering Wirelessly (illegally?)....
I will miss Saphire and trying different Roms and themes...

Is there any chance this could be rooted? ANY???? even if it can't be themed or ROM'ed... just so I dont waste my rooted apps I bought two months ago????

i read they OC'd the G2 at 1.6ghz so what do you have to reflash that kernal and root everytime your reboot your phone? that doesnt make sense.. i must be missing something.. anyone chime in?

I mainly rooted so I can have a smoother experience. The Droid 1, I found is very choppy, suffers from redraw syndrome, etc... Rooting, using a custom launcher, etc all helped this. I hope the DINC HD is so fast and has enough memory where I don't have to do all of this. Now rooting and using custom launchers allows a very personal experience. THAT, I will miss if I can't do it (well I can do the Launcher part since that doesn't require root)... so I think I'd still be willing to sacrifice rooting on this phone....

...now if only we had more tidbits on it (specs, pics, features...) then i'd know?

Stupid Verizon/HTC. If this is really coming out 23rd and I assume it will since two devices seems to have been confirmed by Miami, why don't they let some things out??? The general public does not care about this. That is 99% of their shoppers. They are still being fooled by the X's, Galaxies, and other devices that are "so six months ago"... throw us a bone and open up the can already!!!

You just answered your own question. This device, IF its as big as everyone is making it out to be, deserves the build up and hype of the D1. I cant find it now but I do recall VZWs renewal #s on contracts at this time last year took a dip as users were waiting on the droid. The general public doesn't care about this handset how could they? It hasn't been marketed to them. You don't just throw a phone with tons of $ in R&D and testing out on the market without a huge buildup. ESPECIALLY if its to be the flagship device of your new LTE network.

Would YOU spring this device on your customers with no buildup? It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the 3G version totally canned IMO. If I was sitting on the board for this company there is NO WAY a 3g version of this phone gets released. Its simply not responsible to release a 3g version IMO. Release your flagship phone in a 3G model and then a couple months later release it as an LTE version? They're giving us the Pro this winter and i can see the Merge happening as well but I dont know how they would justify a 3G DincHD.

You don't cater to the 1% you cater to the naive 99. LOL

Honestly I think that a LOT of the frustration stems from a certain group of "sources" saying the Droid Pro was the superphone that everyone expects this to be. Remember THOSE rumors? 1.3-1.5Ghz processor, deleted due to language? Then it turned out to be exactly what I expected it to be a Professional version of a Droid with quality enterprise support.

Really? Where did you hear that? I do hope they announce it then. Though it could be the Merge or something irrelevant to Android.

it can be rooted but htc new need to lock these phones down is a bummer but I don't know if it will stop me from buying it. I wish the universal root worked on these I'd be all in. but as of now I'm still leaning toward being at a vzw store on launch day

If this phone still comes out in nov I am willing to bet we won't see miamis pics until there is a week or so left.. but I would love to be proven wrong.. :P
