Can you even get home replacements on a sense phone? My friend had one and they weren't available in the market

If you can sideload you can have a replacement launcher.

I got a dumb question lol.. Never owned a sense phone before and was curious, if you install a 3rd party home replacement like launcher pro then sense is not really being used right?

I know you can't use sense widgets but is it part of the os built in or just apart if the launcher itself?

It's all tied into the Launcher. I've actually started using Launcher Pro Plus and really like the change. Very refined appearance and a lot of customization. There are also a good many widgets available now that look like the Sense widgets. Give it a shot with the free. You might lock it. That, tied with Beautiful Widgets or Weather and Clock Toggle looks great.

Ya I love launcher pro plus I have had it on my droid since it was first release I was just curious if I would gain any benifit using it with the new sense 2.5..

Ya I have converted many sense and blur ppl at my work to use launcher pro lol love it.. can't wait to use it on this device... EVO ran amazing with it.. 3 weeks from today guys

Judging by the ROM's I've played with based on the initial Sense 2.5, it's slick. Really slick. Able to change themes and appearances on the fly. Preview before launching. It's a great setup. Plus it will be tied into the HTC website for locating the phone online, wiping it, backup, several other features. It's nice. Very nice. I'll be interested to see it completely up and running smoothly.

for those that were on earlier when i said my storm broke and i was on my way to go get the dinc. well that was around 3 oclock. since ive gotten the phone ive been absolutely glued to it up until now. sat in the mall parking lot for a good hour before my stomach told me i needed to get home and eat.

what an amazing difference coming from a storm. absolutely can not wait to return it and get the incHD .. feels great to finally enter the droid world

Haha I know how you feel I spent 45 min after work in my truck in the parking lot to make sure I saw that chat yesterday.. Lol

A friend of mine is in a very similar boat. He's stuck with his Storm 1 till at LEAST the 11th. I've convinced him to wait to see if this phone is more of a fit than the Inc or the D2.

We shall see.

I'm a little nervous to delve into rooting. Completely a noob. I stopped caring when I accepted that the storm is a crappy phone. I think ill wait to incHD to get into rooting. As I'm only renting this phone for the next 20 days

What do you mean by sideload? I've never heard of that but I think I should start learning since I'm looking to get this phone.

The second this phone is rootable, I will root it. It isn't hard to root. Also like I said, trial and error is how you can learn root.

I don't think you can go wrong with the X. If it still lands right, then you do have 30 days to return the X and pick up the IncHD.

Sideload -- load an app from outside the Market.

Basically you download an app, like the latest version of the Google Code Project WiFi Tethering app. Now download an app like Astro from the Market. Open Astro, navigate to /sdcard/download/ and find the downloaded app. Now press it, Open App Manager, and install it.

This would work the same for, say, ADW, if the device in question couldn't see launcher replacements in the Market.

Downloads - adw-launcher-android - Project Hosting on Google Code

Conversely you can download them on your PC/Mac/Linux box/Etc, and transfer them to the SD card.
