New DOZE In Android N Helps You Save Even More Battery!

Doze seems like a cool concept, but also a bit of a gimmick in my opinion. From what I have read doze currently only kicks in if your phone has been laying flat & perfectly still for 30 minutes. You touch it, bump it, pick it up and that resets the cycle. I don't know about most people but I don't go 30 minutes without checking an e-mail or something on my phone, so I will not see benefits from Doze very often.

Edit: I don't mean to bash Google or the Doze feature, I like the idea and the direction they are headed in; I just don't see it as useful for people that are constantly using their phones. :)

I need to back out of the beta. Nobody can hear me during phone calls. I can hear them clear but no responses from them.

Nevermind. They are idiots. I can hear myself fine.

Scared me. I'm installing right now as I read this post. Glad to hear everyone you know is an idiot...? Haha!

As for Doze, it seems to be a bit more tolerant to me. I keep my phone in my pocket. Yes, I spend a lot of time stationary at a desk, but I also bounce my leg quite vigorously at times, as well as shift my position many times through the day. To look at my battery usage, it's obvious that those things don't affect Doze, so I think it's a bit of an overstatement to say that it does you no good if you bump the phone/etc. It takes a bit more than a leg shaking to cancel Doze.

Having it activate simply when the screen is off for a certain time seems like a logical progression and a welcomed addition to something that already makes a large difference in battery life for me.

I was talking and someone kept talking over me so I assumed they couldn't hear me. Nope they just don't know conference call etiquette.

That's it. This is the last time I buy a non Nexus phone. Seriously. I have the Note 5, a top of the line flagship phone, a phone that came out before the Droid Turbo 2. Droid Turbo 2 is already getting Marshmallow. Note 5 is still waiting. There's no reason for an update to take 6 months to come out. There's just no reason. We don't have MM yet and now they're teasing N. Which Note 5 won't get until March-May of next year...

That's cool. I hear a few people saying that. Personally there are more important things to me about a phone then whether or not it gets updates.

I'm surprised you are seeing benefit from Doze. From everything I have read on multiple sites, any movement at all that triggers a phone sensor or gyro interrupts Doze mode. Interesting. I have not seen any battery improvement yet with MM and Doze, but my phone is never perfectly still for 30 minutes. [emoji3]
