No danger since you can reboot into recovery manually and then restore your backup...

Also... after it does boot back up with the new ROM.... let it reload all of your Apps before you start trying to tinker with it.... depending on how many apps it's trying to reload, the Droid may be slightly sluggish due to all the downloading and reinstalling of the apps

If the phone feels pretty hot after pulling the battery, let it cool a bit and then boot into recovery ...

WAIT!!!! ok soooo it worked!!!! instead of the eye i got a Sapphire i hit install from zip from SD card on the recovery mode... and i think it worked
