New Google Maps Update

Did anyone try uninstalling Maps and reinstalling this version? I don't have titanium and apparently MyBackup doesn't back up Google Maps.

I tried this, didn't work.

now I can't restore the backup from Titanium backup either....

I've tried removing android/data/maps as well.

still no luck, I can see it in the market, but it won't install fresh, and I can't restore my backups.

Mapless, hope I don't have to restore an old nandroid to get it back.

stock frf57 with market fix to build.prop applied

I did the exact same thing, and ended up mapless as well. I found this post: New Maps 4.3 "update unsuccessful" BB .2.1 - Android Forums.

I downloaded and installed that Maps.apk file, and at least have 4.2 back.

Installation Successful

I am running Simply Stunning v4.1 FROYO FRF57 and mine installs fine.

I did get an error about not signing in when I first flashed the Simply Stunning and tried to install Google Maps. After I selected settings and did a Sign in, then the Google Maps 4.2 install worked (yesterday) and now I just installed Google Maps 4.3.

Wohooo, don't know that I will really use the transit or latitude features though.

I'm running a Droid Froyo-based ROM. I had to erase /system/app/Maps.apk, remove the related <shared-user> tag from /data/system/packages.xml, reboot, and then install Maps from the market. Works fine, now.

Thanks for the heads up. You are a brave soul.

Come on one of you brainiacs figure this out. i hate not having an update.;)

It apparently is affecting 2.1 users. Any of you guys with 2.1 having issues stock?

No issue whatsoever.
Installed like normal.
Non rooted
Thas how i was able to drop the 3 new features.
This sounds crazy that alot of you are having issues to install.
:(

Pretty sure there was a Maps 4.2 update.zip type file around for BB v0.1. Might try that to get Maps 4.2 back.

I can't get 4.3 to install on my Droid FWIW.

My wife had no issues with this update either. It seems to be an issue only for those of us who messed with our Droids. :(

Well I believe it's people using the froyo update because I'm on 2.1 BB V1.0 and it worked fine.

I'm using the standard froyo themed with the ud theme but I don't have the market fix installed. New maps updated perfect for me.
