They'll restore but some might not restore. You'll have to use TB to get any missing back. You are wiping prior to installing, right?

yea they should restore just fine. Be sure to nandroid backup your phone before flashing.

On 12.24.1 I installed the data throttle hack and my speed jumped from 1.2mbit to 2.2mbit down, and now that I'm on 12.31 I'm back down to 1.2mbit. Did the hack not work as well in this build?

That mod never worked on Verizon in the first place. Verizon throttles OTA, not by firmware/software. Anyone who experienced increased speed only experienced a placebo. Like always, the internet sometimes is snappy, and at others is slow as molasses.

The funny thing about it is, the original OP asking for this hack/mod, linked to a thread that already stated that this hack/mod only worked for T-Mobile and Bell Canada, because those 2 do throttle by firmware/software, but I guess everyone failed to read that part of the thread.

Any documented source to support this statement? What purpose to the throttle file serve then.

Because it's part of the Android source code, and in every ROM by proxy.

Are you going to ask me why Google included this is in their source code next? Because that I don't know, and to be honest, I don't care either.

I got that too, right after wipe and install. I just had to move a few apps to the SD card to free up the space. A new mod could mean slightly more memory used.

If I could do that, it might work, however, launcher FC's immediately. I can't keep launcher open long enough to even switch a screen. With no apps installed, there's no way any ROM should be using all the memory. Something else must be wrong somewhere.

reboot into recovery, wipe factory reset.

then manually go into partitions menu and format /data and /cache

then flash......good luck to you!

Yep, that did the trick. Thanks Jamezelle!

Actually I was wondering how u are citing fact about vzw throttling ota instead of through the service files in source code. How do u know the files are not part of the tools necessary to throttle

FC's on Angry Birds. I seem to remember this being a problem on other builds. I'm going to reinstall from the market instead of TiBu and see what happens.

Just common sense. If by removing any files responsible for throttling from any given ROM and you don't notice an increase in speed as a consistent result, then logic tells us that the removal of said files had no bearing toward any throttling the carrier imposes.

That, and the fact that it makes terrible business sense if the carrier places a limiter such as data throttling on a phone making it so readily accessible to any user for modification, but it makes perfect business sense to place the limiter server side to prevent any users from tampering/modifying so easily.

as much sense as it makes in your head...does it make it FACT? There is a big difference between assumptions and facts, yet you announce it with such certainty.

many big companies make decisions that, if consumers knew, would be considered bad business practices. Enron, AIG, GM...etc.

My point is that while your point is a valid one, and is a well justified assumption...you also have to think that the "normal" user is not going to have access to the framework of the phone. Therefore in their eyes it is protected from the consumer. And that while they very well may be able to throttle from the server side...it is also a possibility that the files for throttling must be installed on the device as well to "understand" that the device/network speed is needing to be throttled by the servers. Breaking a link may cause unthrottling for all we know.

Also, a reason for inconsistency is quite possibly fluctuations in signal emittance/interference rather than server throttling. Ive noticed that speedtest (which to me is not the best way to determine) provides largely varying speeds just based on what location/broadband server I switch to.

I CAN tell you this...after modding the service.jar throttle files...I have noticed my market downloads are much quicker. Most of them instantly jump to 40-50 percent, then quickly to 80-90 percent...then bam...installing. W/o the mod, its more like 14%..30%...50%...80%...90%...and finally..downloaded and installing. Just my observation...and I didnt use speedtest to come to that conclusion.
