New X orders now will not ship until the 18th.. Yeah right

Is VZ just trying to create a demand here or what?

I wonder if V is doing the samething I think Dell does. They give you a ship date and in my experience with many orders and friends orders always ship them a few days to a week early. V did this to me on the DX. Said wouldn't ship till Aug. 3rd after I ordered on the Fri. the 23rd. It shipped Mon. and I got it Tues. I was a happy camper. If they do this than you think you got it early and are excited and nothing but good things are said about V instead of them shipping it late and nothing but bad things are thought of V. To me, that's smart business practice.

What I curious since can't call Verizon until Monday, unless the phone support is open on weekends, is that I plan to call to get my Droid1, replaced since the screen is super loose. I want to upgrade to the X but only had this since well the day the HTC Incredible came out, would I happen to have a chance at that since they are promoting to try get people to upgrade early?

The ship date is worst case. If everything goes well at their end, it could ship sooner.

I cannot imagine VZ delaying shipment now to drive demand. It's not unheard of for companies to manufacture shortages on release date to stir the pot, but once something is out, they only risk losing sales. They had not yet met demand on the Incredible when the DX was released, so many people who were ready to pull the trigger in an Incredible probably went with the DX, as did I.

I ordered mine on Wednesday the 28th and was told no later than the 4th. Haven't heard anything yet other than the mail-in rebate forms showed up. Hoping to get it Tuesday now.

I ordered mine on the 28 late at night and was told it wouldn't ship till the 3rd at the earliest. Got a shipping confirmation on Friday and should be here on tuesday

FWIW - I went to 2 different VZ stores on the 27th, and they both said that that day was the last day to lock in a ship date of 8/3. I ended up ordering my phones on Friday the 30th from Lets talk and now have a ship date of 8/4 according to the email I received from them. I know the "X's" are out there. I kind of sounds like Under Promise-Over Deliver.

I'm not eligible on any of my lines for an upgrade until November 19th.. that being said, I saw the reports of the "flyer" on other threads and websites and called VZW regarding it.. at first I wasn't eligible, but when I started asking ?'s about cancelling and had the nice rep add up my early term fees... I said my wife really wanted an i*hone and that the DX was the only other phone she was interested in... and all of the sudden I became eligible... and of course I know you were concerned about this thread staying on topic so...

I was told I'll be receiving my DX on 8/14, not the 18th..

The reps and techs work 8am-11pm on the east coast and I assume 11pm on west coast too. Calling from east coast you will still get an open call center after 11pm. My wife is a tech, but the reps work the same hours. There are always reps, techs, supervisors and operational managers available during business hours.

New Every Two is a VZ promotion to get you to renew your contract. They offer a $100 credit towards a new phone on the main line of the account (if you are a family-man. If its just you, then you get it all to yourself). You have to sign a two-year, and be coming out of a two-year (I think. Correct if I'm wrong).

I ordered mine two days ago, and it was in a jump between dates. The morning the day before I ordered, it jumped from 8/3 to 8/4, then 8/5 the morning that I did order. The night I ordered, when I did order, it said shipping by 8/11, and then jumped to 8/18 later that night. When should I expect it to come? haha
