No data issues lately.. WTF!?

My experience in the last week matches that of jughead75 to the letter... one terrible day, perfect since then, both 3g & 4g.

Hmm come to think about it my data has been on either 3g or 4g but ON never the less for most of the week, also no BSOD issues either. Nock on wood

Here's an interesting twist...

Got mine 09/09, didn't start having any data issues for about 2 weeks, then would only get them sporadically. Then they went away almost completely for almost 2 months, and just in the past week I've lost it 4 times, as opposed to maybe twice in that 2 month period. Yet here all you are saying yours has stopped dropping. I think it's BOTH a phone/network issue, and they have to change the network to make it worth with all the phones. Who knows, it's just odd it fluctuates like this...

Very odd how it fluctuates. I'm thinking the firmware update to the servers is the nail in the coffin. My area (along with MOST others) was having "outages" last week (11/16 or so for 3 days) according to VZW. I'm thinking those "outages" were updates and not true tower failures. Because since that little issue was resolved, my data drop also has resolved. I believe the hand-off from 4g-3g is a phone issue period! However dropping to nothing from 3G makes no sense at all without being an issue with how the SIM feature of the 4G phones interacts with the network, and again this could be software on the phones, however, I'm thinking it is how the network handles sim certification, doesn't it continually check for the SIM information rather than locking a connection with no re-verification system like standard 3G?

That said, I'm still afraid to check CDMA/LTE, and I even went to the 4G zone today... I'm not doing ANYTHING to mess up this solid data connection! LMAO

For everyone that has posted so far, can we get a running tab on states please? I would like to try to keep track and see if it truly is certain markets that have been updated and are now resolved on the drop side.

Read this earlier today and was hopeful.

All day in Wi, no drops, and I left wifi off to watch.

Driving to Ill tonight (Rockford area) I had 3-4 drops.....

Just a difference in towers I'm hoping!

Agree that it appears that data issues are likely VZW tweaking on the server side more than Moto firmware/hardware issues on the phones.

Interesting that the level 1 tech support folks are authorized to replace phones so freely.

Kinda gives you insight on what VZW margins must be.

I'm extremely happy with my Bionic with the extended battery. It's a beast, but I know if I drop it again, I'll be SOL.

The extra mass will almost guarantee the Gorilla glass shattering again (first time was a 2 foot drop that hit the lip of a beer bottle). I've seen a number of posts indicating it may be more fragile than past Droid glass.

Asurion insurance was excellent however. Had an identical phone the next business day. Same minor issues and all.

Well, when you're on the tech bleeding edge, you are a beta tester, whether you like it or not.

Having this much computing and bandwidth in my pocket makes it just about worth it. Unless I break the sucker again. Especially when there are no decent cases available for extended battery yet.

I'm located in Northern New Jersey. I keep my phone in CDMA/LTE all the time and where I'm at im constantly moving in and out of 4G/3G coverage areas on a daily basis.

In Manhattan here. My issues are coming out of the subway and taking up to a minute to reestablish 4g. Can speed process by switching airplane mode on and off. Otherwise almost flawless, except for 4g to wifi taking 13secs. Always. Except when wifi was sleeping from long screen turnoff. Then 5 secs.

I'll add my voice to the list. I've had zero data drops for about a week now. I am locked on CDMA, but even that never worked for me before. I'm almost tempted to switch to LTE, but afraid I'll just screw it up again. Happy to sit tight for now and wait for OTA. (in Boston area)

Same here in central ohio, no noticeable drops in about a week. Gotta be an improvement made in the network. Still running stock rom on the phone.

Can't say that here in North East Ohio. Told my rep at the store today how frustrated I was and he suggested putting in a new a SIM Card. I've been dropping data sine I first got the Bionic back on Sept. 13 and never thought about the card at all, always thought it was a software or hardware issue and have been waiting for the OTA to correct this. He replaced the card and I haven't seen a difference yet. Still hoping the OTA fixes this or I think I'm getting a new phone.

Forgot to add... I'm in northern Kentucky. Still working as it should, even with frequent movement between 3g & 4g areas. Been this way for over a week now, ever since the one really, really bad day.

I remember hoping that they were servicing towers that day, rather than the problem getting worse.

My awesome Bionic is working flawlessly here in Little Rock. So glad I turned down the Razr offer from VZW. This device rocks!
