No update received?

Help i want to update my bionic still running .886 and i want the .902 for new rom and its rooted using safestrap. It wont let me update. I downloaded zip file of update to sd card, put sfestrap in safe mode and tried to choose file and apply its not working says error help ?

Can you give us the name of the zip file? Is it Blur_Version.5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip? If it's Blur_Version.5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip or some other number it won't work. The file are named from the version you're coming from, not going to.

Yeah thats the file, any suggestions how to update thanx. I was wondering about a factory reset and if it would un root meor mess anythinh up

Just an update on my situation, went to the store AND called tech support, both said "you just have to wait for it to come to your phone", even when I told them the phone didn't even get the 893 update. I asked how can the new update come to the phone if the one before that didn't even come? They both said the 902 will update it even so. I don't believe them and really at a loss at this point. What can I do? Does anyone have the 893 file? I have downloaded the 902 to my computer but can't find the 893 to update to that first? Or should we just do a factory reset?

Which file do you have, Blur_Version.5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip or Blur_Version.5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip?

Thanks, guess that's what we're stuck with.....dang.

Sorry, I was searching for Blur_Version.5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip for you to use, but while I found Major Motorola Droid Bionic update rolling out now; Download and manual install available - Android Approved : Let's talk Android they saved the file at Multiupload.

You might be able to look at posts here from around December 13th or so. Someone may have grabbed it. Do NOT use any that go to either 5.7.886 or 5.7.893 or any variation as they aren't what you're looking for. The file has to go from 5.5.886 to 5.5.893.

So, if I reset the phone, will it update automatically? I've given up searching, spent most of the day friday searching for the 893, no luck....

Assuming that the reset fixes the problem, yes it will update itself or you can hit check for updates and it will update almost instantly. An FDR is a pain, but it really is your next step.

If the update loads in the background it'll tell you an update is available and ask if you want to update. When you check for updates it should say something other than the search isn't available at this time.

Okay, taking the chance then...gonna look up on the forum how to do it, and will do it in the next few minutes, I'll be back with an update shortly! THANKS

Yep, it should work automatically after you factory reset. The verizon rep you saw is full of crap too, if it's saying "update unavailable" instead of "up to date" that means it's not connecting to the motorola servers at all. You'll be waiting forever and it'll never update. I had the same issues and a factory reset solved it (but I'm rooted and was able to back up all my apps / game data).

Like everyone said, you can update manually, instead of having to do the reset. I might have saved the .886 --> .893 file. Then you'll be able to update it since you said you already have teh .893 --> .902 file. Let me check...
