maybe its because i put matts utility on my desktop instead of c: drive

Yes it has to be on the c drive. I had mine on my desktop too and it soft bricked my phone. Moved it to the c drive and it worked fine.

Ok Guys, I got the errors status 0 and status 7. My phone was soft bricked, and froze on the M screen. Here's what I did to solve this, resulting in a successful ICS install!!!!!!!!
Also, NO data loss!!

While stuck on the M screen, press and hold your Power button, Volume +, and Volume - buttons.
Wait until the screen shuts off, then release ONLY the Power button.
While still holding the Volume + and Volume - buttons, the phone will turn back on automatically. This time it will will bring up the menu again.
Select Recovery, and clear the cache twice again. Make sure it does it twice successfully!
Then Select 'Apply Update from SDCard.'
Select the file you put on your sdcard.
ICS installs flawlessly this time!

NO Matt's 1.7 needed, no root, or anything extra!

Your screen should look similar to this for a successful update:

I already said this before. This does NOT WORK IN ALL SITUATIONS!! lol I figured out how to get from the "stuck M screen" back to the recovery in the same fashion, and tried that way about 3 or 4 times, to no avail. In SOME people's case what you say DOES work, but not all cases. After I figured and tried the method you have here hours ago, I finally realized the Matts Utility finally finished downloading and figured, what the heck, I'm still "soft bricked" so I might as try it. And just the poster of this file and tutorial posted, I ran the utility, then rebooted and allowed GB to fully boot, set up the phone real quick, then powered down and booted back into recovery and the flash from sd card worked on the first try after this. So YES in some cases, people WILL need to use the Matts Utility.

So I went back in to recovery mode, and while in recovery mode I saw a new poor little green android with his chest opened up and a red triangle sign with an ! exclamation point coming out of him. This was NOT a gingerbread graphic, so it had to be ICS. So I did a factory reset then immediately applied the update and the update succeeded. I then rebooted, a very long 5 to 7 minutes of biting my finger nails but then it booted into ICS.

I was having trouble, got the Status 0 and Status 7 errors.

But after reading this, I followed your lead... and it worked.

And now, try to imagine Morgan Freeman saying this..... Hmmm, Ice Cream Sandwich, now that's the good stuff.

OK so I tried this is it aborted at the sideload/package.zip. For some reason I cant power off the phone nor does pushing the volume and power buttons together do anything. What can I do now to get my phone back to normal?

Ok im trying matts utility had to wait for it to finish downloading. Now im stuck at waiting for device. Im not certain how long it takes but its been 5 minutes.

Now I know im not in AP fastboot. I cant get to the recovery to select that. Holding the buttons for recovery just loops back to the M screen.

Good to hear! dancedroid Sorry for the brick you got =/ still going to try to make this 100% fool proof, did you lose any data at all?

This worked for me also. I have ICS successfully installed thanks! dancedroiddancedroiddancedroiddancedroiddancedroid

Completely Stock- Bricked Mac OSX

Ok like the title says I bricked during the update phase- I can't remember the exact phrase but essentially the update failed and now I get stuck on the start up screen. Problem is I'm running Mac OSX everything I've seen to unbrick your phone is windows- anybody have some direction here? I did download "RazrUtilityLinux" just not sure where to begin. Thanks!!!

It takes about 10 seconds of holding down the Power, Volume +, and Volume- buttons for the phone to restart. After your phone restarts, release the Power button while still holding on the both Volume buttons. This will bring up the menu.

im currently charging my bricked phone to try again. i gave up and went to sleep couldn't get phone to power on because it died. i pulled the back up.hooked up hardwire to phone batter after pulling the back off. which was surprisingly easy. and it powered on but battery status is battery low so im charging it for about 30 mins and then gonna try matts utility from a diff pc with matts utilities on c drive. instead of desktop.

Ok, so Im new to all of this and completely impatient so thats why Im here. I have a few questions, first of which being, do I download the zip to my phone or to my computer then put it on my phone? and the second question I have is how am I going to access the reboot file if my phones bricked. Also, how do I place the downloaded file into my external sd. Any help?

I followed the directions to the T and also soft bricked the phone. Fixed phone this way
downloaded the "Droid Razr Utility 1.7" and it say to put it on your C: drive. when I did that, from WinRar it didnt put the "DroidRAZRUtility.bat" in C: tried to use it didn't work. then I put in "new folder" after that I put it in C: driver, and it asked for administration, then it worked
Then used the Droid Razr Ulility 1.7 as per directions on first page. everything went as planned. Make sure you use it from C: or it will not work from any other folder, has to be on main drive.

when I started the phone I noticed the battery is getting weak, didnt want to have same problems as some of the posts. charge battery.

followed the OP post again, "on first page" this time everything worked OK.

the second time my screen had this image " make sure you have this image of Lloyd" first time my screen looked different and didn't work.

Worked for me. Never have used a utility on this phone, no root etc. Got status 0 twice, each time backed out and on the third try it worked.
