"Official" Beautiful Widgets Skinning Thread

Sorry guys, this thread got really long...and I dont 100% got it, if anybody uses this Beaut.Widg on a Nexus1.
I am new wih Android, so excuse

Here's the latest incarnation trying to fix the metallic txt. It's just a mock-up done in Photoshop replacing each number.png file takes too long for a true screenshot. So hopefully this will take less time.

Better? I think it looks more believable now?

I never saw a problem with the first version from the screen shot, but only you have the current advantage of seeing it live on the phone (hint, hint), AND I trust your judement 100% as to what looks the best.

Once you get the "aluminum look" all figured out I would love to see your take on a brushed aluminum skin, or even a Diamond plate or 5-bar plate skin!....

the text looks great...but i would change the "checkerboard faux carbon fiber" to the real thing. It just has that whole I buy my carbon fiber parts at pep-boys look to it. I think you are way headed in the right direction. Also, think about the text, do you just want it sitting an some nice shiny carbon fiber, or do you want it to be placed inside indents in the CF mold to give it that sunken in "badge" style look.

Think of it more of a real application than just a skin and it will end up coming out awesome. I can tell you already have the PS skills needed to do it right!

Yeah unforunately, the texture I'm using was the only one I found that I liked and was somewhat usable that I found on Google so I think I'm gonna have to keep it lol. And I was going for the "Metal Mounted on Carbon Fiber" look. Thanks for the input though!

P.S. what program are you using to make your skins, you seem to be busting them out like nothing lol!!

Please post when you send these in and are available....I think they are really great looking.

Man its amazing the number of skins available already! Now my problem is which to use at any one time. Someone earlier in the thread had a great feature request for that: automatic random skin selection. Maybe a customizable timer that just randomly picks one of the installed skins when it times out.

You can find it in the gallery: (Droid Wallpapers - Motorola Droid Gallery - Droid Wallpapers, Droid Gallery). Then just do a search for "carbon" I'm using the "carbon fibre" image. Hope that helps!

I'm liking it! Just a recommendation for the numbers' font though, do you have anything Sans-Serif or more "rectangular/modern"? I think it will contrast it from the background more and have more impact. Keep going!
