"Official" Beautiful Widgets Skinning Thread

i just wanted to show off the screens i made with this

I just downloaded Beautiful Widgets today, so I'm assuming it's the latest version. However, after putting the files in "sdcard\data\beautifulwidgets\skins" I don't see anywhere to change skins with a UI as shown in the beginning of this thread.

What's wrong?

You mean the skin selection screen right? Are you pressing the "menu" button when in the weather forecast display (tapping the weather icon)? Should give you a "skin" selection that you can enter into.

Much better answer than mine...dang drugs the doc prescribed....BTW, this is the iPhone Forum, right?

Ok well evidently there was something with the card i used. Its a visa gift card, i used it to buy another app. But now I cant re-buy the app (beautiful widgets) I dont know what to do, ive tired over and over to dl it and but it goes to dl and instantly jumps dl unsucessful...please help i want this app!

And all seems well the credit card i checked it online theres fund available... and it doesnt show it locked down or anything

Not really sure what else to recommend seems like you tried everything. We know it's not the market servers because people have been able to buy it. The only thing I can pinpoint is either your Market App is screwing up (did you try a restart?), there's something wrong with your Droid's wifi connection (believe I've had my fair share of wifi connection with my first droid, did you try a 3G download?), or it could be your card (sounds weird if you have sufficient funds though, is it possible to try a different card/are you sure your credit card number is correct in your Google checkout settings/Have you purchased any other apps with this card and have they downloaded correctly?) lol that all I have for now, that should be able to pinpoint or lead you in the right direction. Thanks JonKyu! That is what I was talking about. Nowhere have I seen how you bring up the selection screen, but now I've found it as you described.

I was under the impression that all the screens and backgrounds were prepacked, but when I apply a skin like CleanClock or airportone I only get the weather widget in that theme, and no other parts of the screen shots. Am I to select my own background for each skin used?

Aside from the numbers (for the clock) there are no other widgets. However, all of the background screens are included, which I would assume should show up when selecting that particular skin.

Skinning is only available for the Clock/Weather widget, I would imagine skinning for the other small widgets is a very low priority, partly becasue as evidenced below most people forget about those or don't even know they exist

Let's try to be clear about "backgrounds included", backgrounds are the graphics (or lack of in "Naked skins") that are confined ONLY to the background area of the widget, either the 4x2(Beautiful Home) or 4x1 version (Smaller Beautiful Home) widgets.

The "background" seen on the rest of the phone screen is the phone's Wallpaper and has nothing to do with the Beautiful Widgets at all and is selected by the individual Phone user via Menu>wallpapers.

Thanks! Through trial and error, I think I have this figured out now, and yes I did surmise that you had to select your own wallpaper.

Now I just have to go back and try GDE again. I kind of liked the cube effect.

Hi Guys,


While I was at it I made a "Semi-Naked" version without the background as I have seen some requests for that.

I haven't had time to make the Landscape Versions or the Smaller Home versions yet. I wanted to gauge interest before spending the time to make those.

If anyone wants just the Home Version in portrait only I can post the zip files now. Just let me know.

Here you go, you can use these for now until I get the Landscape and Smaller Home versions done.

Just so it is clear this is just the "normal" 4x2 "Beautiful Home" with no Landscape version.

Extract Folders and add to Skins Folder.
