I'm not impressed with 2.2

If anything I think they went backwards a little. The Lock Icon bugs sucks, the number password is a dull gray and I don't really see that the ringtones are any louder. Speed, maybe with what I'm running or where I live I see no speed increase. All the Huba, Huba, Huba for the past 6 weeks or so in my opinion is over nothing. Hopefully they fix the lock icon bug so I don't have to use that everytime before imputting my password and I'll be happy.

Just updated 2.2 and now I can't connect to a local server to send and receive from my 2 church emails. My other 2 email accounts work fine as did all 4 before I updated to 2.2. Two Verizon Techs in the "Authorized" store both were unsuccessful as they changed ports and settings for over an hour. They finally gave up told me to call Verizon and get Tier 2 on phone. Just got off with Tier 2 Rep and she said 2.2 will not support this particular server and recommended "Touch Down" from emarket. Local Verizon Store employee said to forward to gmail. What do you suggest? What happened from 2.1 to 2.2?

It probably has to do with the issue concerning how 2.2 "protects" exchange email.

I would check with whomever does the IT for the church and see if there is a password or code that needs to be generated. Or as the rep said give touchdown a try. You can try it you know for 24 hours to see if it works before you buy it.

Would "K-9" do the same as "Touchdown"? Obviously, I'm not fond of paying for something if the "free" one will work. What exactly do I say to the IT guy? Sometimes they can be, well, you know what I mean... I'm just now getting my self esteem to an acceptable level without prozac.:icon_ banana:

so basically as the title says hancent wont put new txt messages atop the list since 2.2 update.. obviously this is very annoying. has anyone figured out a work around for this yet? ive tried to uninstall the app and re-install it but new messages go to the middle of the pack. im thinking this is something that hancent may have to fix and then provide its own update. any thoughts?

Mine is doing this too. Not always but most of the time and it is super annoying. I expect a new text to be at the top, not have to go searching for it! Hope its fixed soon with an update from handcent.....

That lock issue is a pain, I removed my password to deal with it for now. There are some good things to the update though. All are pretty much cosmetic, but from my use of the phone, everything is pretty much cosmetic in an OS upgrade . The touch button to take a picture is a nice way to work around the troublesome hard button the DX has. After some time for the dust to settle, apps that need adjusting to be updated.. I am sure we will all find that this update was at least decent. I agree though... there was so much hype while we waited (and caused by ourselves) that it seems almost disappointing now that we have the upgrade.

This update has been a PITA for me. I was running on a stock unrooted phone, my only complaints were the low volume and the fact that the HDMI output is crippled every now and then it took a little while to load up the screen imiage or to scroll.

Now after the update (which required two battery pulls to complete) my screen gets screwed up when it gets rotated from landscape to portrait. Icons end up on top of each other, the little icon to open the app drawer ends up on the right hand side of the screen even after the rets of the screen has rotated back. I have only been able to "fix" that by turning the phone off. Also yesterday I got locked out vy the Pattern lock. I never used the pattern lock, I never set a pattern I use the pin lock. Again fixed by turning it off.

I am having the same text message problem with my new messages not being at the top. I have to look for them. I am using handcent as well. Also is anyone having worse signal than before? My signal has been bad in some places that were very good before the update.

I have followed the instuctions for downloading the update but have not luck!!! It says "check for update was not available at this time. Try again later"

DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION???

I had the same issue and other people mentioned it a few pages back. You have to go to Settings/Data Manager/Data Delivery/Social Applications and make sure that Sync Over WiFi Only is checked off. Then try to upgrade and it should run the check. You may still have to wait if are not set to receive the update yet but at least now you can check correctly.

after i updated my facebook contacts dont seem to update one of my friends added me on facebook and he still hasnt shown up in my contact list is there a way to force sync facebook? or any way to fix this?

Internet Lagging/Screen Problem After Update

So yeah ever since the offical update I feel the stock internet browser has been lagging a lot more than usual on certain websites...anyone else experience this or have found a way around this?

Another thing I've noticed is the screen isn't as responsive as it used to be when I switch the phone from holding it verticaly to horizontally. Tried calibrating the compass twice and it didn't really seem to help as this seemed to take care of the problem on 2.1

Any help/suggestions are appreciated

i've never killed any apps nor have an app to do that....but how would i go about doing that?

How can you disable the pin code on the screen unlock in 2.2? I did not have it in 2.1 and now the disable option is itself disabled. I read somewhere that this has to do with my installation of an exchange.mail account.

Don't know if you've found your solution yet but your fix is this:

Go to your exchange outlook web mail. Under options->Mobile Devices clear all the known profiles. The next time your phone syncs, you will be able to disable the pin security.

Texts in inbox out of order

I see that some people have mentioned that on handcent the newest text does not appear at the top of the list. Justttt so everyone knows this problem is also present with the stock text message app. So its a Froyo issue not a handcebt issue. It also causes your inbox to be out of chrono order even after you've received texts.

Also I haven't seen anyone else mention this but on the stock browser AND dolphin when you zoom it doesn't format to text correctly and if you scroll up or down it will veer away from the text and scroll diagonally if you aren't moving your finger DIRECTLY up it down. Royal PITA.

The saddest part about all of this is that these two issues were present on the leaked version and they had a month to fix it. It's funny that these two issues did not occur with 2.1 but when we get the "upgrade" they arise. They better release a patch or I really am considering switching to the fascinate (would suck to lose google though).
