OFFICIAL Droid X 2.2 Solutions/Issues Thread

For some reason, since I installed the OTA update of froyo - my X has been randomly rebooting during phone calls as well as getting the screen locked in a funky place. I've had to pull the battery a number of times.. Is there a fix to this?

Factory reset and/or exchange the phone.

Just updated to 2.2 and after the re-boot my screen is now smaller than before? Anyone else seeing anything like this?

It isn't a huge difference, but the last few pixels on each side of the screen are dark, and everything just looks shrunk down (nothing is cut off). Can't be more than a mm or two on each side, but it just looks different than what I'm used to.

Tried re-booting a few times and pulling the battery, but no luck.
You know I was looking at my phone at work earlier and I noticed that too. I thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. I really couldn't remember if it was like that in 2.1. And also I've noticed that quite a few things (images/videos) don't appear to be as crystal clear as they were before. Kind of pixelated almost. I checked the build.prop and the lcd density is the same as it was before. Dunno what could be causing this. First thing I thought of was maybe the layout got changed in an xml file somewhere.
Damn, this actually is annoying to me!

I do notice about a 1 mm border around the screen that looks like unused pixels. However, when I press the power button to bring the screen on, you can clearly see that the entire screen area is lit up, so I do not believe those are unused pixels. Maybe something else changed, but I don't think my screen is not using its full area.

I have the update but i don't seem to have flash embedded vids goes to the stand alone player and I don't see the app in the drawer...any idea what the problem is?

You have to download it from the Market. It's not included in the update.

no it's definitely included in the update I did a factory reset and it's there now.

Flash was in my OTA update.

Most of the people who say it wasn't included in the OTA update are usually the ones who mistake the immediate patch for Flash that was on the market following the update for being the initial install of Flash, or they are still running the "leaked" 2.2 update, which didn't have Flash included, or they simply haven't updated and are going by the "leaked" 2.2 release comments.

At least in my experience, some (or all) of those have been the case.

ive noticed that after the 2.2 OTA update, my phone would like to freeze and not turn on.. which would then force me to do a battery pull..

also when playing music, it suddenly stops and screen goes black. which would then freeze and not turn back... anybody else having this issue?

last night i did a factory reset using the method here

Bingo! I finally figured out how to get things straight in my Droid X 2.2 update - Android Forums

my x is runnig alot smoother it seemed to fix alot of the lag issues
i dont know about the others like the music issues and text order because im using cubed and i have no issues with it and i only recieve a few texts so far
its way snappier then it was before especially the gallery and lp
so far so good and definitely worth the extra time to reset it using this method
i will post back in a few days to tell you guys what issues pop back up if any

btw flash worked after the reset without installing it but there was an update in the market

2.2 orientation problem

With the update my screen is very sluggish going from portrait to landscape. It wasn't like that before the update.

There are already many threads about orientation. Why start another and just to make a statement? Are you actually asking for help on this?

When using the volume key to put the phone into silent mode, it only seems to go to vibrate... and when in the Verizon wireless screen with the unlock and sound slide bars, if you move the slide bar to the right it says "phone is silent" and displays the silent icon, but on the top task bar it still indicates its on vibrate. Hopefully I won't have to listen to my phone vibrate against my wood dresser all night.

Goto settings: Then Sound settings, second option down - Vibrate open that goto the bottom - check only when not in silent mode! Your good to go sleep well...

i have to say my phone is running pretty damn good

two issues still remain one new one one old (before update)

the new one is the stock music player crashes. but i have been using cubed. the only thing that sux is that the stock music player seems to be tied into the bluetooth controls
i hope they fix this. either fix the music player or allow me to use different players with bluetooth

the old problem is the alarm sometimes not ringing. i see the red alarm screen but there's no sound its very frustrating. all volumes are up everything set correctly but no alarm sound sometimes

if these two issues get fixed in the next update then it would be a perfect phone!

  1. This is what I did.....The main thing is don't delete the exchange account and re-add it the server will force the screen locking policies back on it.
  2. First have the Droid Open.
  3. Log into the web outlook interface.
    1. go to options.
    2. Select Mobile devices.
    3. Delete all references to the moto blur.
  4. On the droid.
    1. Go in exchange mailbox, it will empty and you will get a connection error.
    2. Go to settings (looks like a gear)
      1. Select, locations and settings.
        1. Select Screen unlock security.
        2. Pick none.
        3. Backup one level to settings.
      2. Select, Accounts.
        1. Pick your Corp Sync account
          1. select Ok
  5. Now you will show an ! point until the re-sync is finish
  6. Screen lock is off.
The main thing is don't delete the exchange account and re-add it the server will force the screen locking policies back on it.

I don't have a way to resolve your issue, sorry. And by the looks of things, I'm not too sure Verizon/Motorola is to worried about the music issue at this point. I'm guessing they could have, with this last update, resolved some of the music problems.

My brother constantly complains on how the order of his music is presented. Saves it by name and not the order the tracks run on the album he moves over to it. Me, I don't listen to music on my phone and haven't spent alot of time with it.

I would suggest trying different apps on the market. You can even try the ones you buy out for a few hours then get a refund if it's not for you. JMO.

Good luck:)
