Official Flash

So I just updated my phone (Droid) so I could d/l the "official" Flash 10.1 off of the market place. Let me tell you, I am extremely disappointed. To be honest, there is no difference between then official version and the beta version. They both lag and both lack the feature to rewind/fast forward the video. You're telling me I waited all this time for this crap? What a low-blow. Am I missing something? Is there something I must do in order for my Droid to run the videos better? If so, please inform me. The videos are still laggy. Ugh, what a disappointment! :icon_evil::icon_evil::icon_evil:

You were told you would get Flash. You got it. Nobody said it would live up to your expectations.

I know that Flash works better on the Droid then it does on ti iPhone. :D

I think Flash works really well on the Droid 2. Maybe you should upgrade your phone? Or maybe you should just realize that Flash is an extra that was added on to the Droid. When the Droid first came out nobody said it would have Flash it was only after a couple of months that talk began about Droid having Flash.

IMHO I think it does the job OK. Depends upon what you are looking at.
Respectfully, I think you are mistaken. When I was deciding on whether to get the droid, or some other phone, back in 11/09/09 one of my deciding factors was that it was advertised that droid would have adobe flash 10.1 in early 2010. I didn't pull that piece of information out of thin air. Personally Motorola's behaviour re flash 10.1, and their customer service in general, is leading me to seriously consider a different android manufacturer for my early upgrade date of January 2010. I think it's about time that corporations get some ethics about what they say their products will be capable of and when that capability will take effect.
And exactly how is it Motorola's fault that Adobe drug their feet on the release of flash?

Don't mean to call you out, but this statement is grossly inaccurate.

The ORIGINAL marketing literature for the DROID said it plainly:

"Adobe Flash 10.1 support coming Q1 2010"

Obviously, they missed their targeted release *LOL*

Have you contacted a lawyer yet? You should totally sue Motorola, Verizon, Google, and Adobe. And droidforums.net. And me.
Don't be silly. I was attempting to provide information that appears to discount the sprinkling of posts throughout various forums. And also to suggest to people that customers need to be treated more respectfully. It's gotten to the point where if one calls out unethical behaviour, they get stamped as foolish. It's important to reclaim our own personal ethics first and then it can trickle down to corporate ethics and political ethics. It is not a frivolous issue. And besides did you ever hear of ad hominem arguments (An Ad Hominem argument is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact.) Why would I sue droidforums.net; why would I sue you. As I said in the beginning, "don't be silly."

Silly is exactly what I was attempting to be, to point out the pointlessness of your call to action on this. Welcome to the enormous void that exists between marketing and engineering - certainly this can't be the first or most egregious instance of it you've ever encountered. And yes, in this day and age, I consider it silly to consider a slipped schedule such as this to be a serious breach of ethics. Call me jaded, but I'll call you pollyanna.

And please, grow a sense of humor. We tend to make jokes here. :icon_ banana:

Why are people bashing each other over Flash. Come on people...Respect each other and other's opinion..Seriously, the rudeness is COMPLETELY uncalled for..

It often happens here. People have a gripe. Others disagree. The griper gets attacked for some variation of being too picky, too naive, too uninformed, etc. But the truth is, some of us come here precisely TO gripe. We're nerdy gadget lovers who care about things like flash quality. Our friends and family are clueless or find our geekiness frivolous.

I love that I can come here and gripe about the companies behind our beloved stuff. We should be able to disagree and discuss without dissing each other personally.

Re: Flash...I agree that I too find it unstable on my computers, so I'm not at all surprised that it is glitchy on phones. Whoever already made that point, it was a good one.

There are always going to be people who complain, no matter what the quality of a product is, with that said, the droids version of flash is not by any means the best but it does get the job done for the most part and its free! So appreciate having it available for you to use, cause being that its still early in its life cycle expect things to improve like everything else

First, note that I have not received the update yet, much less have the flash plug in installed from the market.

Ive looked forward to having flash for a while, although it has not been a high priority item for me. Now that the possibility is imminent, Im curious about people's experience with it.

First, Ive worried that websites using flash for advertising would materially slow down the browsing experience, especially when connected 3G (vs WIFI). Has anyone made observations one way or the other of that?

Ive seen here that it is possible to change a setting for the browser to "on demand"... thats a good thing. But it occurs to me that a "Flash on, flash off" setting would be very cool, allowing you to manage when you want to take the bandwidth hit for using it - say, when you have a good wifi connection? Assuming that having it on really DOES slow things down (Im expecting it will), having a "switch" like the droid has in the power widget to turn flash on and off might be very cool.

Thoughts?

I've been running the 10.1 Flash Beta on my stock FRG01 OTA for a couple weeks now. When I started, I browsed (I use both stock browser and Dolphin HD Free) with all Flash on by default, and it did noticably slow things down when there were lots of Flash items on a page - MLB team pages, for example.

Then I changed my settings to "only on demand," so that any Flash item on a page shows up as a blank square with a green arrow in the middle - touch the arrow to start the Flash for that item only. That method is much more preferable, speed-wise. Especially when on a 3G connection.

Yeah what sites can I use to watch movies?

And how do you find Adobe Flash on your phone after you download it? I don't see it anywhere! (moto droid)

I'm kind of disappointed in how this whole flash thing has gone too. I do like my Droid a lot but not how this has gone down. Plus, Flash is 10mb on my phone. Maybe it is best not to have too many expectations of technology to work as advertised. There is quite a bit of hype.
