OFFICIAL FRG22D OTA patch is here. DOWNLOAD NOW!

This is from Google's website, and it is the size of the file that is supposed to be delivered, so it might be the right one...

That said, this update has a number of different files in it than P3Droid's FRG22D. It is of course a partial patch... Where P3Droid's FRG22D appears to be a complete update...

And more importantly, this new update includes a new recovery image. I have to wonder if this new recovery image is locked similarly as the recovery image has been on the Droid2.

If you like having your Droid1 rooted, or if you ever want to root your Droid1, I'd strongly suggest waiting to hear more about this from the pros before attemping to install it.

It won't work on a rooted Droid. I'm still rooted. SPRecovery blocked it. It's for stock Droids only.

I just grabbed the package and am checking it out now to see what all is in it. Just because it is small doesn't mean there isn't anything fun inside.

First, like the OTA before it, this one will attempt to enable what I call the FRS. If it succeeds, flashing on a custom recovery will not stick unless you change your kernel or disable the FRS in another way (see the link).

Second, package is coded to install over the following builds:
Code:
verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.2/FRG01B/45394:user/release-keys
verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.2/FRG22D/50454:user/release-keys

That second one in the list is the same build fingerprint as you'll have when the patch finishes (and is also the same build fingerprint that was in P3Droid's leak earlier in the week).

Perhaps there was an earlier OTA with the same build fingerprint that saw very limited distribution. Why else would you design a package coded to install over it's own build fingerprint?

Anyway, that's what I see in there on first glance.

Ummm,

All updates are for stock droids…

And some are made to work without removing root. This is not one of those, which is why I tried it.

Since it's just a patch we thought maybe it would work. It didn't.

Well, it might install if you're rooted.

I just rooted the other day... half forgot I'd even done it. And I just updated to 22d. It installed fine. But I didn't have SPRecovery installed - just rooted and Busybox.

Now I appear to be rooted to EasyRoot/UniversalAndroot - but apps that require root won't work. And neither one will unroot me either.

<chuckle> Not one of my wiser moves. That's what I get for being impulsive.
