okay so is the "wipe data" thing still a "disclaimer" as Metick put it in the v5 thread? is it possible to flash this over 5.1 or is that a terrible idea?
i flashed 5.1 over 5.0 and it worked well

V6 is a new version you need to wipe data/factory reset everytime we change major miui versions.

I just tried flashing 6.1 right over 6.0, and so far I'm still getting a FC whenever I attempt to make a call. So far I'd say to go ahead and start from scratch with 6.1, but I'm in my second reboot right now. Hopefully that'll take care of it.

Hmm... no success. Wiping data/cache right now and doing a fresh install of 6.1. I can always restore my apps again I suppose.

and will there be an update for the phone app? idk if im willing to use 6.1 unless its in english.

Define repopulating? I usually just bypass any problems with getting my apps back by using My Backup Pro.

Exactly its been this way since the first miui Rom I put out for the droid. You can also test out miui backup. It works for backing up and restoring apps.

I have been upgrading since my fresh install of v2 and have zero problems. Guess I'm lucky!

I use My Backup Pro as well. When you re-install, do you reinstall apps + data or just apps? I never know which to do.

I do back up the calendar, sms, contacts, etc data separately from the apps data.

Upgrade works flawlessly! Network location works fine and Market shows Verizon. No force closes on any apps so far! However, if you want the new icon look across the board, you must flash my Modded Edition, which updates the icon cache among other things.

I do apps+data. As for the plain data side, I exclude contacts, calendar, and playlists, since those seem sto come back doubled. Ex. every time I'd backup my calendar and restore it on a new ROM, my Google Calendar would end up with double appointments.
