Official: The DROID Bionic is on the Way with an “Improved Form Factor”

As much as i want to see that phone and i had a whole thread about the cancellation, there is nothing official in the post and i added another quote from it:

"...That removal though, is now complete and the only page left that even mentions the word “Bionic” is the one you are seeing above." (a page with a jan' 5th date on it)

Don't get me wrong i am really interested in the phone just looking for something official to know if i should wait or get the g2x.

You're going to be waiting for quite a bit. If you don't feel like waiting and are okay with being on T-Mobile go ahead and pick up a G2X. I've been hearing all positive impressions on the device.

I agree with c_mack9, Why should we ignore the date? This makes the whole scrapped Bionic campaign seem planned to get some publicity. And it predates CES 2011.

ill hold out till summer with my og droid...ive held out this long....i still dont see what all the interest in the thunderbolt is i mean i know its the first 4g phone on verizon but its old tech its basically the evo which is how old now? i refuse to waste my refund and spend money on old technology i will wait for the bionic and pray it looks like the targa bc that phone looks like a hot piece of sex...and hoping on 1g ram...unlocked bootloader/vanilla android would be nice but those wont hold be back from getting it

Amazing how many times i have seen this. Thats like comparing a Phenom II processor to an Athlon X2 and saying its pretty much the same.

The thunderbolt has newer architecture in its processor, and 50% more ram, as well as increased storage.

So those upgrades are basically nothing, but an extra core with less ram is the holy grail? I don't get the logic behind that.

To each their own.

I emailed the lady (Kira) at the bottom of that press release asking her about the date and she told me she fixed it now.

ME:
Is the date on this press release supposed to say Jan 5, 2011? Or should it be updated to present time? Is this confirmation that the Bionic WILL RELEASE sometime before years end?

Thanks,

Aaron

KIRA:
Hello Aaron,

I'm not sure which press release you are referring to exactly, but please see our official statement on DROID BIONIC here:

Motorola Mobility, Inc. - Media Center - Fact Sheets - The New DROID BIONIC: Coming Soon

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Kira

ME:
Kira,

That is the press release I was talking about. The date on it says January 5th, 2011, was just wondering if the date was supposed to be updated on that?

Thanks,

Aaron

KIRA:
Thanks Aaron.

Best,
Kira

That should clear up all this nonsense of you not trusting this document. :)

Not trying to convince anyone, just stating facts.

I didn't waste any money, i spent money on a phone i wanted, one that does everything i need and want it to, and does it without lag, so really, i could have 4 cores and it wouldnt do what i need it to any faster.

Could someone answer the following for me:

What phone company has the Targa rights....please not Sprint?
and
When has the "street/market" estimated it to be released?

Thanks in advance

Presumably as the original droid bionic, it will DEF see big red..

expected release:end of summer.

Thank the looooord
My old man refuses to switch from Sprint, horrible reception here and especially at his house, too damn lazy and still with the same phone for like 5 years.

Jersey I think I remember your name from incinerated theme threads, still using the firefighter version? Those were awesome.

But riddle me this, that "50%" more ram is 768MB LP DDR1 Ram Vs. the 512MB/(1GB rumored) LP DDR2 that the Bionic (etna/targa/whatever) will have? I think that is part of what he was getting at for the old tech. Not just the dual core but the other tech specs as well. In the end as long as "you" are happy thats fine but good luck trying to sell Chris, myself or others who know this for that matter lol.

Targa sounds better then Bionic.
yeah what he said ^^^

I'm riding the OGDroid train until it breaks down or something truly worthwhile comes out. I think Q3 & Q4 probably hold a lot of devices that we are waiting for. dancedroid

I don't think Targa is going to be better then Bionic, at least what the "more knowledgable" people tell me.

I just want an iPhone 5.

What's with the D1 hate for the TB (not just here)? It feels like a 3X upgrade.

I just want an iPhone 5.
