OK, my battery lasts 4 times longer now. No joke!

i think its the radio update that's saving battery and not any task killer...task killers are useless on a linux based system just like antivirus...

So they say. However I still have my system memory being drained and then it returns when the tasks are killed. It also helps me not have to cycle through numerous returns through the k-9 mail app and my 5 email accounts as the system seems to remember every entry into the app and backs me through it as far as it can go... possibly eating up memory.

well yes, more tasks running equals more memory being used, but as far as battery life, i dunno, i dont see how a task killer can improve battery life 4 fold. maybe, but highly doubtful...i can vouch for the radio update though, it improved my battery life tremendously, and i dont use a task killer, and have meebo and k-9 running 24/7. i dont see a benefit to task killer except freeing up memory, but linux memory management is good enough without a third party product.

Just tried this and autokill doesn't seem to be working. I opened up a few programs, turned off the screen, and turned it back on after a couple minutes and they are still running.

EDIT: Nevermind, it works! I now prefer this over advanced task killer.

using up memory doesn't use batteries, just like a computer program: A program can use up lots of memory, but use up less CPU cycles. CPU cycles are what loads the CPU and drains the battery. the Memory chips on the phone will use the same amount of battery regardless if it is being used at minimum or full.

You need to determine what programs are constantly running and active that is using up the battery. i just learned that putting my phone in my belt clip with a magnetic door drained the battery by turning it into multimedia/car mode. newb learning.

battery really depends on what widgets you have running etc.... try juice defender it will save you loads!
Just installed Juicedefender, can u tell me what exactly it does? i just "enabled" it and left everything at default, can you explain what some of the things it does?

I find it hard to believe that you have not spent more time on your phone with the latest ota upgrade and post on here the battery lasts 4 times longer.

Ok, after using this for over a day now, the OP is absolutely correct. I was still at 90% of 12PM today with heavy browser/text usage. I would usually be around 60% at that time.

I only have auto kill to set up stuff like browser, games, facebook, and other apps. I put most of the apps on ignore (the ones that always end up opening again anyways).

I LOVE this app!

EDIT: And no it's not because of 2.1. I've been running the same BB 0.9 ROM for a while now.

+1

I don't understand the people who respond and question the validity of whether my battery lasts 4 times longer now.

It's NOT due to 2.1 update. After I upgraded, the battery would drain under 2.1 just as fast (if not faster) than it did under 2.0.1. There really is nothing to debate here. I don't care how many "proofs" or "theories" are presented against Advanced Task Killer.

The bottom line: MY BATTERY LASTS 4 TIMES LONGER AFTER INSTALLING ADVANCED TASK KILLER.

This is not up for debate. Jesus Christ. I mean, it is what it is. The freaking battery seems to last forever now. I'm not pulling this out of my a$$. All I did was install Apollo's advance task killer. THE END.

s54, thanks for the tip on the app, will give it a shot now. i think the auto kill feature is bad ass.
One thing, the app is called "Apollo Task Killer" not Advanced task killer. I think thats y people are getting confused. It looks exactly like advanced task killer, but called Apollo.
thanks again.
and BTW, i don't believe you about the 4x scenario..... ha-ha just kidding:icon_ banana:

So after s54's very convincing push for the Apollo task killer i decided to give it a shot. All i can say is OMG!

My battery has never lasted this long. Right now im on hour 12 of a full charge with moderate use and still have 60% battery.

Apollo task killer is now my primary task killer and am very happy with the results.

What is your battery usage like? Everyone keeps saying "moderate use", but that means nothing. I'm curious as to what the actual usage was like. What does your phone say the different percentages of usage are? And what is the amount of time used in each? This would all be extremely helpful

I didnt take notes on how much battery everything is burning up, but I tried it too, and normally my battery was good for about 14 hours with a little internet use, and a few calls, but it has been 24 hours now and I'm still at 70% to start the day with, where normally if I didnt charge it every night, I would wake up to about 20%. I like it
Thanks for the tip.
