OK, my battery lasts 4 times longer now. No joke!

Forgot to add... you can do this with "Advanced Task Manager" by going to Preferences > Applications > Auto-End Frequency. Only auto ends in 30 minute, 1 hr, 2 hr, 3 hr, 5 hr, 12 hr and daily increments though.

i used advanced task manager, by aron something. this is different. i just downloaded this to see if its any better, yet when i go to ignore list no apps come up, how do i get apps to show up there, so i can choose what apps it should NOT kill...

I think you have to long tap a program on the kill list and choose ingore in the options

Ok, I'll bite.

DL'd Apollo TK. 100% battery as of 10:30AM. I will not charge it until I get home from work today (6:00PM). Let's see what happens...

4:30PM and the Droid is at 90%. Periodic checks when an email or an SMS comes in. No web surfing.

So far, so good! I often find myself out in the field for work, so it's nice to have a little extra security when it comes to power

question to those who HAVE used BOTH Advanced Task Killer (ReChild) and Apollo Task Killer (Apollo)...do you see an improvement with your batter by using Apollo as opposed to Advanced?

So far I still like it.. but the widget does nothing for me, I cant get it to do anything except put a cute little Droid on my home screen. It didn't notify me every time it did its thing, and I turned the notification off. But it seems to close all the programs I dont have on my ignore list.
This is what I have on my ignore list.
Swype
Handcent
HelixLauncher
Android Live Wallpapers
Email
City Caller ID

everything else shuts off.

I was using ATK and it worked well, dunno if it saved me some battery. I guess I've never really worried about my battery usage that much because I'm able to charge the phone really quickly and usually have access to either a computer or a charger. I like having my phone sync in real time and use the GPS in tandem with some apps in real time. But like I said, ATK works well for what it is.

I got some weird glitch when using this TKer, it would interfere with handcent, making my texting lock alt when its not on alt, and turn off alt when i turn it on.

Basically, it flipped the alt function. on = off, off = on. uninstalling apollo task killer fixed it.

Really quick guys, I just installed and want to try this out.

But a few questions, should I kill the following:

Helix Launcher
Live Wallpapers
Beautiful Widgets?

Basically, I'd like to know which Apps I shouldn't kill, and which apps I should...

These are what I have on ignore:

thanks for the post ...

some of these apps (5 i think) are stuff you installed ? things like the calendar, gmail are things i need to keep running. y did u kill settings ?

what i had in mind was more along the lines of killing core processes that come with the OS ... that would be more beneficial ... i think android keeps core processes cued up for use, but they aren't really running.

No no...all these things on the list are what I have on IGNORE. Meaning, the app ignores these apps...leaves them running and doesn't kill them.

OK I am on board with the Apollo TK and Juice Defender

Count me in... I just switched from Advanced Task Killer to Apollo Task Killer and added Juicedefender. fully charged and starting my own test. I have noticed a fair improvement in battery life with 2.1--after I blew off the live wallpaper in favor of keeping Home+++ 7 screens. I want to see this 4x improvement, but I would be happy with just tripling battery life.:icon_eek:

I gave this a shot, but I think I just have to many things that I want to keep running. I decided to listen to RadioTime and it shut off after about a minute, so I had to ignore that program. Then, I noticed that my Twitter and Facebook widgets weren't updating. I think I may use this just for things like the Browser, but with so many data heavy things in my ignore list, I don't know how much use it will have.

I only had 36mb free with nothing outside of my ignore list running. If nothing else, I guess it showed me that I have a lot more going on than I thought I did!

I reccomend juice defender. It'll reduce how much those widgets update without killing them or blocking them completely

Okay, I switched this morning from Taskiller, which I had used since the beginning. I have a couple programs that often crash, such as Pandora, iheartradio, and the browser (this is all from heavy use).

I used to use Taskiller to basically restart the programs when they started acting goofy. Now with Apollo, they are all on my ignore list (Pandora and iheartradio are obvious, and I like to keep the browser open as I often load a few pages then shut the screen off and come back to read them).

The question is, how do I go and kill a program manually that is on my ignore list?

Thanks for the help!
