OK, my battery lasts 4 times longer now. No joke!

Yea it looks like youre barely even using your phone. Thats super light usage. That would explain the great battery life. I'll probably give this a try though, even a little improvement is still an improvement.

Well that's why I mentioned I don't think the breakdown is accurate. The total time looked accurate but with 2.5+ hours of browsing the web and reading the news that should have been a major percentage and it didn't even show.

I forgot that I also listened to MP3 on it for about 35-40 minutes as well... and the music app wasn't even on there...

I guess it makes sense that if the battery life has increase dramatically then listening to music for that amount of time might not wear on the battery as much, causing it to not get listed in the usage. I think I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I appreciate someone finally putting some stats and numbers to help add some validity to all these claims

honestly, the battery life is a bit better with 2.1 ... i use live wallpapers now and haven't noticed much difference in drain.

i don't run many apps in the background and don't talk much, so my battery lasts about 2 days before needing a charge ...

I have juice defender with ultimate juice and the full advanced task manager and its hard to tell how much my battery life has been saved. I know its not suppose to be accurate but usually juice defender will tell me thay my batts been saved by x1.00 but i guess if ur attatched to ur phone like me and use it a lot theres no way to make a really good difference right? Im still not completely sure how the whole APN thing works or even exactly what the hell it is precisely but when my batt gets lower than 2p, like it suggests in the juice faqs, i disable it. Then after its charged ill re enable it. On my exclusion list in atm I have
Alarm
The email and settings apps
Helix and beautiful widgets
And juice defender
If anyone has any commentary of my settings and thinks I should try something else, I'm more than open for feedback, then again I'm a heavy user so my case might be normal and not worth talking about, but maybe I should try the apollo thing or watevritscalled

Wait is apollo task killer and advanced task killer the same?? I searched apolla task killer in the market and got no results but advanced task killer is developed by apollo, im so confused..

New to this app, trying it out, it seems like that AutoKill part is not working. Any ideas ?

For example Tunewiki was running for 80 hours or something and it was in the Kill list. Shut down the screen for 10 minutes, came back, still running. Did the manual kill and it was gone ?

no, wo different ones. I had advanced on my phone, and deleted yesterday and dowloaded the apollo one. I can tell you, so much of a difference. I also did what someone suggested about changing some seting such as the brghtness and stuff, and it all reall worked.

4 times? what ever, I have use the task killers, and ther is NO difference. It is placebo. 2.1 has major battery improvements. You can see from settings if something is killing the battery, and if an app is doing that, kill it for life. Problem solved (but I navigate through settings very well, and some people need the help of a task killer, and if used properly, then it may save a 1 to 2 percent. 4x, please, I am doing college math, don't be ridiculous.

We should all apologize for not living up to your superior standards. Not everyone wants to sit around killing apps every time they put their phone back in their pocket.

How does this differ from Advanced Task Killer? (not the free one)

Don't apologize to me, just live to your standards. What is the deal? I am not trying to be a punk, and if I sounded so, then please, accept my apologies, sir. Is everyone going to agree with everything said here in these forums? Exactly.

I was just pointing out the fact that 4x more is a ton of battery improvement. I can get 20 hours with light moderate usage, so 4x more? 80 hours of light to moderate use? Nah

As others have said, depending on how you use it, you may get some improvements, debatable, but there not going to equal a battery that only needs to be plugged in every third or fourth day; however, the droid has a 385 minute continuous usage time and 270 hours of standby. That my friend is the equation that I think (IMO) plays the role.

I am not trying to be a punk, take what you like, or not, and leave the rest. Good day, sir

I've gotta agree. Hopefully the 4 times longer is a hyperbole because if it's not it's wholly unbelievable. Even if you had a low end crappy battery that lasted 15 hours before dying, 4 times of that would be 60 hours, and yeah no chance your battery is lasting that long because of one app.

That being said, I still stand by the idea that a task killer is unnecessary, although i get what people are saying about why this one could improve battery life provided you're not using the phone heavily. from what i'm reading it doesnt appear anyone is using it as heavily as originally thought.

but to each his own...

Just live to your own standards, and then others will mean nothing. Let me apologize kind sir. Wasn't trying to set you (or OP) off (seriously). Is everything that everyone says on these forums going to be congruent with everyone's opinions? Exactly.

With light to moderate use, I can get 20 hours out of mine. If you can get me to 80 hours, then I thank you deeply (that would be 4x).

The droid can be used continuously for up to 385 min, and be on standby up to 270 hours (over 10 days) without having to micro manage the device. That is the bigger equation IMHO.

Someone who is on their device nonstop, I can see wanting to conserve the battery to get through until plug in time, but these apps may help in a %, and are not going to multiply the battery into standing by for a month, or having the screen lit (doing business) for 24 hours strait. I am Keeping an opened mind.

Take what you like, or don't like, and leave the rest.

Ignoring apps makes since, auto killing them does not (specially on a Linux platform) If you were at school and everyone wanted to use the computer, the person that had been there longest would pack up his things and leave. If you wanted to use the computer by force, you would butt in, not allowing the last user to pack up his things properly, and possibly loose data.

same thing in the android OS, killing tasks rips the time away they would normally have to pack up, but android has a built in task manager, and can tell apps to pack up when it needs room for the new, allowing a proper shut down, and data saving (can prevent corrupted files too) though normally this doesn't occur, but I bet you shut your computer down properly? Rather than kill the power supply and risk it?

I hope that explains my thinking a little, good day, sir.

@czerdrill: Hyperbole almost made me go and celebrate! I was thinking "4 days? Can I really get even three?" if that were the case, It would be nice. I do thank OP for posting though, but a little heavy on the icing.

I am NOT exaggerating. Here is what I did:

(1) Upgraded to 2.1 (Phone is 100% stock right now. Not even rooted)
(2) Downloaded "Advanced Task Killer 1.5.6" by Apollo Software from the market (It's FREE)
(3) Went into "Settings" of Advanced Task Killer and set some apps to "ignore". Everything else is set to "auto-kill" one minute after the screen turns off.

It is 7 PM here in Chicago. Phone had a full charge yesterday morning at 8 AM, which is when I unplugged it from the charger. Currently the battery is a 50%!!! Normally, it would have been long gone by now. I can easily go another day on this battery.

I'm stunned. Normal use too. Talking to friends, texting, and of course browsing.
I installed the exact app that you mentioned, when to settings and chose to auto kill apps after one min after screen turns off. I tried to add apps to the ignore list, but no apps were there for me to choose from. So what do i do? how do i add them to the ignore list if i cant see them listed? thanks
