Again, You have to embed the album art inside the music file itself, not the folder in which your music files are in...
mp3tag, look it up, do a Google search on embedding album art into ID3tag's.
Frustratingly unhelpful advice. Some of the folders have several album art files for the same album, front cover, back cover, gatefolds, etc. Simply editing the id3tag by embedding one of these files into the ID3 tags won't stop all these extra files from showing up in the gallery. I'm not sure why you don't just say "I don't know how to do that". I should have known there wasn't an easy solution in the first place.
I have 25+ gigs of music on my SD card (32 GB card) so I'm trying to avoid having to go through and edit all the tags or go through and delete all the extraneous art files. I don't need all the files on my SD but I'm too lazy to go through and manually deal with all the files. Anyway, forget I asked.

I think you should read up on ID3tag's. They are capable of holding multiple album art images, not just one. And you should check mp3tag, it allows you to do batch editing of ID3tag's, that includes embedding multiple images, in a few simple click's of your mouse.
If you have that much music, you should know the importance of correctly organizing, categorizing and tagging all your music.
To answer your original question, since you've failed to realize the answer by now, is you can not hide only certain media files and have the others scanned as normal in the same folder.
And yes, I'll forget you ever asked, since you obviously didn't like the answer or are too lazy to tag your music in order to achieve your desired goal.
Is mp3tag online software? I saw you mention searching Google for it but I just wanted to check and make sure. Since I flashed my first ROM, my album art isn't, I don't know the word, right? I guess. So, I'm hoping this mp3tag might help me out with that.

It's freeware, all it is is a simple yet powerful ID3tag editor. As long as you have the album art already on your computer you can embed them easily enough with mp3tag.
If you don't have the album art already, or have the incorrect art, just download it through iTunes, WMP, or any other app you prefer that searches and downloads album art automatically. I recommend going through your music at least once with mp3tag before doing this though, and correctly tagging the files; this will allow you to minimize the art that can not be found for rare or unknown albums and artist, then I'd recommend getting the missing album art for any album from discogs.com.

I don't think I'm the only one having this problem, but hopefully I'll be able to state it clearly enough that someone can provide me with a solution.
I flashed the 11.26 update (then went back, wiped, flashed 11.19 and then flashed 11.26 over it without wiping to fix notifications), and the MMS app in either configuration doesn't allow me to download photos/videos/etc to my SD card. I long-press the photo/video and instead of the normal list of options that included "Copy attached to SD card", there are only four or five little graphical choices. I tried the copy one, and while it says "Texts copied", I don't really know what it's done, but nothing was downloaded to my SD card. Is this normal, or something only a select few of us are experiencing? And is it fixed in 12.03?
I actually flashed the 11.05 MMS timestamp fix, which just takes you back to an older MMS.apk, and that allowed me to download photos and whatnot, but it doesn't support the theming options present in 11.26, which I really liked.
My advice is to wipe throughly, and freshly install 12.3. Works nicely.

EDit: If it isn't already painfully obvious, by embedding all your album art into the ID3tag's you'll never have to worry about losing, misplacing, having a media player display the wrong album art, copying music from one location to another without the album art and anything else you can think of that can go wrong with album art ever again, because they'll be secure inside the music itself.

Did you even read my post? I'm not having issues with something not working, I'm having an issue with a feature that I believe was removed. Your advice caused me to lose several photos I'd been sent this week, so now I have to try to get the people who sent them to me to send them again, if they still even have them.
For people who can read and comprehend, is there any way to save attached files from MMS messages like there is in the standard Android MMS app and in the MIUI MMS app pre-dating the 11.26 version?

Whoopsee!! Sorry bro, just figured that was the reason you were having all those troubles. Lots of people for some reason hate to wipe for some reason. It many times causes trouble flashing over another Rom. My bad. Listen to the pros like DJ and Zero who really know what they are talking about!! lol!!
And next time you get sent a pic, save it to your gallery immediately man, it would still be there if you did.
