1...the new version is not laggy or slow. I use slayhers #25 1.0 ghz interactive and setcpu...oc to 1000mhz...I find it to be faster than any other ROM ive used.
2. Pull google search from market and delete the googlequicksearchbox.apk from /system/app and reboot. I use the black google search apk from PEv3.5
3. The google search is the softpress on the search softkey...long pressing is supposed to bring up the voice search.
what are your setcpu settings? maybe i can get some ideas from you. i just deleted the "quicksearchbox.apk" so we'll see if that works for the voice searching. thanks for the response.
EDIT: ok.. deleting quicksearchbox just totally killed my search button for the homescreen. now whether i press it or long-press it, it does NOTHING. i have the new google search installed....
For search button to function you need to move the google search apk (i think it's named something like com.google.quicksearchbox1.apk) from /data/app to /system/app, rename it to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk, and fix the permissions to match the rest of the apps in /system/app. Then reboot. Then your search button will work normally.

this workaround worked, but long pressing the search button still doesn't bring up the voice search. is there a workaround for that?

Download voice search from google and it should work. They did not include this in MIUI.

+1, and once you download voice search it doesn't need to be moved or anything like that.
I downloaded Google search then moved the icon to my home screen because I use it quite a bit. I did not need to perform any of the "behind the screens" move though.
That seems strange. I installed late Sat night. Yesterday my battery did well. I started at 6:30 AM Sunday morning. When I went to bed at 1:30 AM this morning I still had 40%. Currently, my display indicates 80%.

All i did was download through Rom Manager - backup current Rom (thankfully) and installed. Now i get those Acore FC's all the time. Restoring back to 12.3 for now.
I woke up at 11:30 this morning, its now 2:54pm and my battery is at 5%. It was 100% when I woke up. The only thing I've done is text a couple people and post a couple replies in the forums. Nothing that should have drained my entire battery in a few hours. Normally my battery lasts all day with MIUI.
Only thing I can think of is maybe tweaking my build.prop
