weird I got an invite for swype beta and downloaded no problem using miui 12.3.2 install just fine and working great

so how did you get past the licensing part? it wants me to uncheck the android keyboard which you cannot do as this rom doesnt have the option

I've never had had or seen that problem with Swype. I did the same thing that Red mentioned. I had received an email to join the swype beta. I clicked on the download link, installed it and am running it with no problems at all. Did you make sure that the option to allow apps from unknown sources is turned on? In the past, that's the only thing that ever prevented me from installing it.

Also, what do you mean you can't uncheck the android keyboard? You should be able to go in to the keyboard settings and select whichever keyboard you want (provided you have some installed.)

also no, its not on any other phone. i went to the download site from my phone, downloaded it, and installed it, and this happens.

thats exactly what it said on M1s rom after it failed on miui. i dont know why its not working.

Hmm, so prior to installing this, did you have any version of swype anywhere on your phone? Even one that you weren't aware was on the phone? If so, delete that first.

If the above doesn't work or if it doesn't apply to you, I'd recommend uninstalling any swype/swype installer that you have on your phone, delete all associated files (the apks, for example), and go back in to the Swype email and redownload the installer.

The only other thing I could think of, and I'm sure it doesn't apply to you, is if you had a Swype Installer apk on your SD Card from an older version, and you downloaded the new one, but opened up the old installer when attempting to download/install. Like I said, I doubt this applies to you, but I thought I should mention it just in case it was something overlooked.

Hopefully we can get it resolved =/ <3 swype

yes, i did have swype (one from online, i know i know, shame on me). i installed the new one and they already knew it was installed. i had to uninstall it before they would let me get any further. so actually your ideas sound good. ill try and find everything associated with it and delete it then retry.

also, what about you other people with the problem, did you have swype installed too? maybe were getting somewhere.

edit: there was a swype file on the sd i forgot about. rebooting and will see what happens.

Since you have the link to download the swype installer, it probably is best to delete everything, including the swype installer, before downloading and trying again. I'm really at a loss for what else could be causing it. The other thing I thought of was if you remember when people would receive swype force close errors in an earlier MIUI version, even if they didn't have swype installed? I remember not having swype anywhere on my phone or sd card, and still received these FCs occasionally several versions ago. Perhaps this is a similar problem? Check your /system/app or just do a search of your entire sd card for swype and see if there's a file you overlooked.

Nice!! Glad to hear you got all working! I'm sure now that anyone who was having the same issue that you did can remedy it by doing what we talked about.
