Fair enough, thank you for the correct info. Does that mean when Froyo comes to the X, we can access more memory? Thanks for the help.

i believe so its kinda like putting windows 32 bit system on a computer with 6GB of ram it will only see up to 3.5 but if you put on a 64 bit system it is able to utilize all of the memory i guess it would be safe to say and guys before you start flaming this is just an example, that the droid x was released with a 32 bit os for stability issues to get it out the door, and 2.2 is kinda like the 64 bit system that will allow it to reach its potential at least that how i look at it

Essentially yeah, that's kind of how it works. Every 2.1 Device with 512 MB of RAM (Droid X, Nexus One, etc) couldn't use all of that RAM, I believe it was capped at 256MB. Froyo's new kernel unlocks that extra ram though.

Let me explain 2 things too you guys...
Its all marketing... No one will buy the D2 if the X has froyo, hell most people would rather wait a month to get the X then to walk out with a D2. Even tho the D2 is a niceish device.
.

Looking at the specs on the chart post around here some place. The only thing nicer about the D2 is more RAM. Love my X dancedroid

Nothing about the D2 is nicer then the X lol. Unless you like physical keyboards.

Other then that, the X is a better device. 2 features seperate it from the X, 2.2 and a keyboard. Other then that, its either the same hardware or older. Recycling cellphones is not cute, no matter how much you "upgrade" the device. Moto made a mistake not changing the D2. They should have released the Fascinate along side the X instead of the D2. Both of them would be sold out right now, leaving only the DINC (nice phone for the size) which is still a very popular phone. The D2 is messing everything up lol.

Verizon Wireless has started rolling out Android 2.2 Froyo to HTC Incredible owners this weekend.

Froyo brings a 450 percent performance boost over 2.1, native support for Flash 10.1, USB and Wi-Fi tethering, Apps2SD and cloud sync.

Since the start of August, the Nexus One, the HTC EVO 4G and the original Motorola Droid have updated to 2.2. Additionally, the Droid 2 has launched with the updated software already installed.

A few other phones, such as the Dell Streak, Motorola Droid X, HTC MyTouch 3G Slide and Samsung Captivate have all had 2.2 promised but with no set timetable.

The rollout should be completed by the end of the week.

To download the update, go to Settings, About Phone, System Updates. The update is about 93.7MB.

I don't know if we'll see anything till they're done rolling out the Incredible OTA. And from what I read over there it's slow going, lot's are still saying they haven't received it.

Just got off the phone with Tom Cruise, inventor of the droid x. He says the update is coming 12/12/2012 and that we should be ok.

Yea sorry guys I tried to get him to forward it but he told me he couldn't and that those type of emails he gets from Verizon supposedly self destruct and delete themselves in 12 to 24 hrs... this is a legitimate source though... this guy has been my best friend since we were in diapers basically and he has an x too so he's just as excited about this stuff as we are...

Please check with your best friend/legitimate source. I just checked I dont have the 2.2 update yet. Please let us know which day this week we should expect the update. Thanks!

For whats its worth. Phil over at Android central had what is a supposed reliable source stating that it was going to drop tomorrow but................ it was postponed!! :):):):) Gotta love it
