I wanted to make this separate thread because the other seemed to involve the additional complexity brought by rooting or otherwise modifying the DroidX. We did the OTA update on my wife's phone when it became available, from vanilla 2.1. Left the phone sitting and plugged in. It never got past the black "M" symbol while booting. Tried removing the battery... no improvement. Tried booting without the card... nothing. The sd card was fried too, the computer said it was a master boot record but no partitions existed on it and none could be created. Windows treated the drive as if there were no card present. We took it to Verizon and they shipped us a phone to replace it (minus a new sd card... we had to ***** to get them to replace that). I'm not impressed overall.
Considering that it messed up the music on my card and screwed with my contact data (renamed them and added duplicate data... my wife now has two birthdays) I'm thinking they botched the development and should've done more testing. Or is this open beta?
