OTA 2.3.340 & Z4Root

I am on v2.3.340 and was successful in rooting using Z4root v1.3. I had to use permanent then un-install then install again to make it work.

solved my Z4root issues

Had similar issues as everyone else. Restored a rooted back up of 2.2 that I had in clockwork. Updated to OTA. SU icon still there but with no root. Could not get Z4 to work. Finally got it to work by doing this sequence. Wiped data/cache for Z4... powered down... pulled battery... rebooted. Pulled up Z4, hit permanent root and it worked in a matter of moments. Maybe this will work for others

All you needed to do was hit home and go through settings to running applications, force stop z4, reboot, then run permanent root again. Did 3 Xs today with 0 problems! ;)

DroidForums junkie!!

Doesn't work for me. Crashes about 10 seconds into rooting and reboots the phone. I've tried about 6 times with no luck.

Before I had manually rooted my phone using the ADB .bat script.

I can't get z4 to work either. I was previously rooted using doroot and noticed that after the update and running z4 (which reported success but did not give me root) I now have two superuser apps in /system/app/:
Superuser.apk
SuperUser.apk
I wonder if this is part of the problem?

I have the same issue and I know the lowercase superuser.apk is the cause.

I just cant figure out how to delete it since you need SU permissions to.:icon_evil:

hmm, so I have Superuser.apk and SuperUser.apk in my system/app folder but my root is working. Superuser is the one in my app tray. Should I worry about removing one?
