You want to remove "Superuser.apk" (all lower case)

Then you root like normal and should be golden.

Check out my tutorial here.. Re-Root Your Droid X After Update.. especially if you didn't unroot before the update.. there's a few steps to take.. Worked great for me!

Just did it on my X, worked first time, old root quit after update and even said that it unrooted before but never did, this way worked for me, and I got back my wireless tether, thanks...

only problem I have found, and I'm not 100 percent this did it, but my gmail email account wont connect since the re-root, my other emails on my phone work except this one

What version of z4Root are you using? Version 1.3.0 works without flaw. If all else fails do this...

Backup your phone.
Reboot recovery and do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
Reboot.
Boot into Bootloader and SBF the 2.3.340 update.
Reboot.
Once you are booted into the system.... Install Z4Root 1.3.0 and do a permanent root. Should work fine.

Try it in airplane mode. Not sure why but that's what worked for me.

I used z4 to unroot it and downloaded the update. When it rebooted, the little triangle with the droid popped up and shut my phone off... I can power it back up and works fine, but the 2.3.34 update didn't take. Any suggestions?

Same issue as skyfire, and airplane mode didn't work either. Wtf
