Mine took a lil bit, about 30min.. But, my question is how long should the home/search/menu/back buttons stay lit. Mine comes on for about two seconds when I turn the phone on then they go out.. Is this normal?

Just turn off the phone, pull the battery and then come back up fresh to where your back in your normal phone "old firmware should still be in place" and then retry.
I don't think its the update because I did that yesterday.
The OS says 2.01.
So the update and data transfer from my Google account I thought was done yesterday.
The for-mentioned notification started about an hour ago.
How can you tell if your droid was updated? I had the updsate notification on my screen and then it vanished without confirming the update was complete.
I got mine last night. I initially had a bunch of problems, like widgets not displaying, home buttons not lighting up, auto-brightness not working etc. Some of these problems went away on reboot, but I had to uncheck and recheck the auto-brightness option for it to work correctly.
So far I am noticing the following:
1. Performance improvements
2. Verizon tab is gone in the marketplace

oops..I found it in the settings, about phone: firmware ver. 2.0.1
I guess Im good!:icon_ banana:
Got the update at about 5:45AM (the early awakening courtesy off my 7 month old).
The phone and network connection definitely feels a bit faster. I like the new loging screen will report on camera performance in a bit.

Camera speed is a little better. Focus problem seems to be gone. I guess it this update make it usable. However you can't tell what you are focusing on, which means that the camera uses contrast to focus. Which means that you will get shots with the background being in focus instead of the subject. I guess it now works as well as other phone cameras(the diff being the resolution) Personally I'd preffer better optics and shorter shutter delay, but maybe it's just me. .
As far as the camera software is concerned it would be nice to see the image that is being captured/stored rather then the image a few seconds before it. It would also be nice for the live view to show where it is focusing on, even if it is a contrast edge. You'd at least know what will be in focus before capturing the image.
(Delaware) I also woke up to an update this morning...:icon_ banana: Some of the problems I encountered was having to reload a few of the widgets, and my contacts list only displayed 7 contacts (I had to get them all back by going to the display option in contacts) Overall, I don't notice too much change performance wise.
I got the update about 3:30 am today and so far my keyboard didn't light up for half of this sentence, working now but also the calendar is showing 1969 for the year! Anyone else experience this?
Seems like the new firmware is virgin generic to everybody... so it needs to repopulate with your syncd stuff to become unique to you and your accounts.
Many are having a few problems right at first and then once your account figures out your on a different phone "but not" its resyncs and your fine.

Yes, you are correct.. I found this on another forum as well...
I've noticed that the LEDs on the buttons are now tied to the light sensor and are no longer on if you're in light. When it's dark they're on as they used to be, but if it's bright enough they don't turn on at all.
