P3Droid: Some Food for Thought - Bootloaders, Rooting, Manufacturers, and Carriers

I don't know how much longer I can handle stock. I saw this thread on the news the day before yesterday and then immediately flashed from 1.5 liberty to Stock. I forgot how slow and cluncky stock runs. I think I may have jumped the gun. I think Im about to try liberty 2.01. I can't take this blur froyo. I had a FC maybe 3 hrs after loading fresh stock. I rarely had issues with liberty or gummyjar on my DX. If I'm to stay stock, that's fine but I need better software.

P.S- They could also stop forcing the bloatware down our throats and not allowing removal.

I installed the GB leak and love it. Phone is faster, more stable, I can now overclock without random reboots, it looks much better, much more polished, etc...

Lol, if your worried just sbf to 2.2 and upgrade your phone via ota so they know you downloaded it. Then just flash back to liberty. I dont really see it as an issue though, just dont tether. If you tether then i still dout they would know but im sticking to not using it. I think P3 was just trying to cushin his release because it violated something and he got scared.

Seriously they are on to me and are blocking me from opening my media gallery. I've been trying for an hour and it won't open they are slowly disabling all my functions... will update on what goes next...

I have the maderstcok 2.340 ZIP file on my SD card. When the OTA is released, I will boot into recovery, install it, take the OTA and then wait for the root and go right back with what I was doing.

I installed the GB stock. Loved it. Went to install the GB root. Used sbf back to 2.2. Bricked phone.

Now I'm uneasy about going to the rooted 2.3 even though I'm at stock 2.2 now, because I don't trust the sbf anymore.

Hook....what SBF did you use? I SBF'd with the one in the TBH app and it worked great....that's why I ask.

I also installed, and am currently running the 2.3.3 rooted and odexed (not deodexed) GB from TBH app....

I used the instructions that P3Droid gave at MDW specifically for the purpose of going back to 2.2 from 2.3. The sbf hung at the final reboot. I put it into bootloader, hooked it back up and the sbf finished, passed, no problems. But I couldn't get my phone to boot past the M logo.

I installed the rooted GB file from the TBH app. Rebooted into GB goodness, no issues so far.

Maybe you should try wiping data in the stock recovery. That always worked for me when I was hung up at the boot logo.

Yep, did that. Several times over. I've sbf my phone 3 times prior to this and never had an issue.

I'll look into the app.
