parents with kids who have android phones....

The kid can just restore a nandroid custom backup with a clean ROM without this app in 1 minute , while he is waiting for the engine to warm-up , and revert to the old one when he gets home . They will find ways to bypass this , it's not even hard especially in this Google era .

Yes. Even California won't let a 16 year old with their license drive by themselves

Yes they can. They just can't drive with anyone younger than 25 or after 11 PM for a year. The exception is for a family necessity and they need a parents note for that.

Hey isn't CA a hands free only cell phone while driving state?

Yup.
My question is why bother with this app? Just dont get a text plan and block all in and out text. If you as a parent have to go to this length might as well be over the top and get allow texting at all. Beside there are A LOT of things that distract drivers. i see people with animals on their lap, cops on laptops, eating, talking to their passenger, rubber necking an accident, rubber necking some hot chick/s walking or driving in the other cars...etc..should we outlaw all of that to?

It already is. Just never enforced.

$40 for a simple app like that is just greed. Someone will probably have a free one out soon.

Who's stupid enough to text while driving? Maybe kids but I have a hard enough time texting while sitting.

It's not greed, Its free enterprise. The laws of supply and demand, not restrained by government interference or regulation.....it cost's so much because there is no competition, as soon as someone can create something similar, prices will go down. This is what makes our country great.

Exactly, I sold a book last week for $344.00 because I was one of the few online sellers that had it. My book was like new and the customer purchased it...

Supply and Demand...

I sit corrected.

My point was that to some extent Ca realizes that there are general habit of the younger drivers in the state and are taking some sort of action to try and curb the downsides. When I got my license at 16, it was game on! Day, night, alone or with high school buds, it didn't matter.

i see the point in this application and how it would appeal to parents.

but like other people have already said there are PLENTY of OTHER distractions on the road and i doubt texting is the biggest. i know that mine is just day dreaming lol

fyi im only 18 so my post is based on that :)

WTF is wrong with you people ? Other bigger distractions than taking your eyes of the road while doing 75 MPH ? The main cause of accidents is distraction , not alcohol or speeding . You can die in a second , and that's not the problem but you will also kill somebody else . I once followed a guy that almost hit me while he was texting at 80 MPH and beat the s**t out of him , that should have teach him a lesson before killing somebody. To bad you can't do this in US .

LOL were you smokin' da bong when all this went down? WARNING: DONT TEXT AND DRIVE BECAUSE SMOKIEDABONG FROM DROIDFORUMS WILL BEAT THE S*** OUT OF YOU........:icon_eek:

You may be surprised , but I'm not the only one . There are parts of this world where you can't get sued just for anything . If you alomost kill someone because you don't know how to use your mirrors , signal lights or not to text while driving you may be thought a crash course in driving .
