Just remember, the first couple of weeks the DI doesn't need to know your name! After that it is usually good. Also, you can be great, good or even suck as long as everyone in your company is the same as you!!
Last thing, the DI will see everything!!!

In my experience, DI's never need to know your name. Until the last week you are simply known as "Maggot!!!!!" until such time as the DI finds other (more colorful) names for you.

I honestly dont know if im just masochistic but I really enjoyed boot camp...till i busted my leg. Then i just enjoyed standing there while everyone else busted their asses and i would still do whatever my TI told everyone to until he yelled at me to stop. That is, until he pulled me into his office and had a chat with me saying he almost got demoted because he yelled for everyone to get on their faces and i dropped...at the same time the SMSgt in charge of the Squadron walked by and pulled me up by my collar. SMSgt was a tiny little black lady. had to have been 5'4" and no more than 120 lbs. Im 6'4" and 210. She one-handed me. The rest of my time there, I had a newfound respect for short people.

I did not have to wait to learn respect for short people My mom was 5 ft nothing. My dad was 6 ft 3 and I took after my dad. So, one day when I was about 12, my mom told me to so something and I thought, "I don't have to listen to her cause I'm bigger than her." I yelled "no" and ran out the door and down the street. I didn't even look back because I knew I had nothing to worry about. Then a hand clamped down on my beck and before I knew it I was being carried down the street like a suitcase. All of the adults were laughing their butts off! Who would have thought, right? I learned then, never underestimate the power of an angry parent! I cannot relate what happened when I got home. I can only afford the loss of only so much dignity at one time!
