PATCH — Focused 1.9.0 update to 2.3.340

I did the patch and it worked great is it now safe to say i'm on .340 and I can install the next drod rom for .340. or would I then have to do the OTA update?

all worked well for me from OP update patch thanks again!

Ink, something must clearly be wrong. The results should have been higher after the patch. If not, either the market is not keeping up with your porn searches, or you are WAY behind me.
Keep up, will you?

Yes, it updates .320 portions our the Rubix rom to .340 including the system info. Hopefully market will work..lol

The market will work EXACTLY as it does for those on the 2.3.340 OTA after the patch.

I can confirm this. My market showed 199 results for porn before the patch and 199 results for porn after the patch :)

You are only on .340 if you installed the update.zip that's been floating around or directly did the OTA. Then you would install Focused 1.9.0 for the leak and then you would apply the patch. If you did all that then yes, you are good for all future .340 releases.

Only 176 results for boobs :(

Kernels on .320 and .340 are both the same. .340 was just compiled later on as stated by p3droid. Both are the same. Nothing different.
If you were on the leak and brick. He also stated that since both are the same you can sbf to. 320 then. 340 sbf system update and works perfectly. People have done it. After you sbf to. 340 you are officially back on the official ota train.

Oh. Well if P3 said it... Disregard.

Just to clarify this...If I am on the OTA .340 I can install Rubix Focused 1.9 for .320 correct? Then use the patch or is that not needed? I read the whole thread but wanted to get a clear cut answer.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response it. wow i never knew I would get so many different apps for boobs... somehow i think I will have less money in my bank as soon as some of these start downloading.. lol

Before I started using these roms, I was deodexed, then started installing roms on top. Is there any advantage to me deodexing my stock .340 at this point?

If you want to theme, you'll want it deodexed... if you plan to install a ROM, it will just replace the entire directory, so there's no point.

hey sephtin, is there a 2.3.340 SBF yet that you are aware of?
Sephtin, maybe you can answer this, what happens if we muck things up on the OTA, are we just out of luck since there is no full sbf out. I kind of like being on 2.3.15 since we have the full sbf in case we mess things up. thanks for any advice you may have on this subject.

Only a /system .sbf that I'm aware of...

Which reminds me.. wonder if it's possible to use the full .320 .sbf if stuff really hit the fan.. (?).
Might find out someday... ;)

shortly skimmed through this thread.. found this that i'd like to address.

The full .320 SBF is useable on this 340 ota. It's kind of like when we had 2.3.9/2.1u1 and 2.3.15.

Just a heads up though, the kernel is very likely not different, to those "skeptics" out there. It is probably compiled on a different date, by a different employee, hence the different version.

Also, the AVERAGE user has NO need for a full SBF other than "peace of mind", or like this case, to get back on the update path. Any normal root user would not edit anything on the level to actually need to replace anything other than /system, so system sbf's work PERFECTLY fine. You will not find a dev putting anything out that edits things directly to require a full sbf. It's just not possible for us with the locked bootloader.

drod, i'm not trying to start any panic here... but a different kernel version, even if operationally the same, will prevent an OTA.... am I right?

Re read.. :) I said that as a clarification, but I also said that the main reason for a full SBF for those that updated to 2.3.320 first and want 340 is to get back on the update path.

The point of my post was to address everyone who's holding back on updating because they want a full sbf and are still on 15. Maybe I'm Just scatter brained and didn't make it clear
