People of the Forums, why do YOU suppose some Android users are moving to Iphone?

Some people are confused easily and thus need a phone that essentially spoon-feeds them everything. Others need the iphone for a status symbol.

See this is really what gets my goat about the iphone. I believe that people Don't want to Dedicated themselves to a new Os. Android is. Really a good, fun and nice looking Os if you know how to use it.

And I totally agree with the lack of updates. They motorola, htc and all all carriers need to keep up with the demand for updates for older android phones. I recently as of last week bought a DROID x from a guy in my area and im in love with this phone even though it's not the newest innovation in the DROID series im very much pleased. I had the DROID 1 when the security patches were released. And the inconsistency bothers me too. Get an update and then find out about another and realize I hadn't gotten it while others have it already. All im looking forward to is more support to the phones.

I'm considering the iPhone

As an owner of an OG Droid, I'm seriously considering purchasing an iPhone. First I should state that I don't work in IT, not a coder or developer, and don't consider myself a fanboy of any specific brand, although the OG is the only smart phone I've ever owned. I like my phone, I really do. But getting it to work right as been a pain to say the least. After a year of use, the phone became unusable and no matter how many times I did a factory reset it was weeks before it became crap again. I finally got to where I just didn't install any apps, leading to me ask why I have this thing again if I can't load things on it. The home screen would take 30+ seconds to load. Finally I got the guts to root it, installed a custom ROM, and still faced the laggy home screen. Then I ran ZepplinRox V6 supercharger script and the phone has generally been great since then. That's the good news. The bad news is it took me forever and personally I would rather do other things than tinker endlessly with the phone. Some people enjoy that, it's just not my thing. With the buzz about the Galaxy Nexus, I thought I would give it one last chance so I went out and purchased it. At this moment, the phone is running hot sitting there with the screen off, along with other well known annoyances that people are complaining about. I love the phone, but at this point it sounds like I'm going to have to root it and install a custom ROM on it for it to work correctly. I'm not willing to go through that a second time around. Yes, iPhone's don't have removable batteries, offer limited customization options, and some of their users are annoying, but one thing I'll say is the phone just works. I love Android, I really do, but I'm coming to a point where I don't think it is for me. At least for the time being. I'm returning my Nexus and going to rock my OG for a little while longer. What's my next phone is anybody's guess and the iPhone is a contender.

If it's not the right phone for you right now then it isn't, we can't change your mind and have no right to. And if ICS couldn't do the trick then I don't know what will:D

Enjoy whichever phone you will end up with. You've owned the OG Droid and used it for a long time, if this is your "trial" run I'd say it's definitely run its course. At least you can say you've tried Android for more than 14 days and figured it wasn't for you. If the iPhone is your choice then so be it, I won't judge.

After a Droid, x2 and thunderbolt I plan on getting an iPhone 5.

I'm over the rooting and rommig thing. I'm tired of waiting for postponed to death updates, somewhat glitchy software, having to comb the market to find a good app, skins, fragmentation, etc..

I like apples accessories aand integration. I like that all the phones aare ready put of the box, I don't have to root, rom and overclock to get rid of pesky bugs. I like apples apps and games.

Most of all I just want to change it up. I still love android, and my current phone, but I'm just ready for something different than my norm. I'm sure after a couple years of iPhone ill be back to android

Couldn't of said it better. I'm so over this battery life. There is days where I have to charge my phone 3 times, from dead to full. That is insane. I'm over the rooting and roming. Time to try something new

I'm going to try not to sound like a fanboy because I'm sure everyone here knows I'm not but I have extensive use with iPhone. The iPhone works perfect from its first boot up. How many times has my iPhone rebooted itself? None. How many times has it froze? None. How many times has it lost connection/signal for more than a minute? None.

My point being is as humans we like things simple. I call it lazyness but u can call it what u will. iPhone's are made so u don't have to tinker too much to get it to work correctly. I love Android and I live iPhone/iOS. They both fit my style lol. My main reason for using an iPhone is my iTunes has over 10,000 songs and 6 seasons of tv shows. I basically rely on it.

But I'm thinking about just getting the nexus and buying a new iPod. Best of both worlds right there lol.

I agree. My DX bricked the first day I owned it when it tried to do an OTA update. Only once in the 5 years that I have owned my ipod touch has it ever frozen and become unresponsive.

My personal opinion is lack if customer support from VZ when it comes to picking out your first android phone and customers are making an uninformed decision however there are folks that don't like to tinker with stuff that can be simplified think of it this way: when a family gets a computer they don't look for one with a b.a. graphics card and a trillion gb's of RAM 90% of the time they just want a computer that will browse the internet and maybe download some songs...legally of course they aren't gonna go into the BIOs and overclock their family computer why? Because it works perfect right out if the box....well minus the preinstalled garbage (android has it too!) I've never owned or even used an Iphone but I doubt I ever will ...I love my DROID X and I hope that at upgrade time I will love my DROID Razor or Thunderbolt just as much

I am a big fan of Android, but it is mainly because I love to tinker. The average user does not tinker. Over the last two years the market has been flooded with android phones and to the average consumer it is just overwhelming. Another post already hit on this, but people just want it simple and to just frickin work. iOs is infinitely more stable than Android and people that bought adapters or docks for there iPhone three years ago have a good chance that it still fits their current and future iPhone. I might be able to wirelessly tether for free with my Android, but most users don't even know what that is let alone care to go through the hassle of making it work. Bottom line is people want simple and Android is anything but simple.

Honestly screen size and inability to use widgets is what turns me off the iPhone. I couldn't imagine having to go to settings every time I turned wifi or bluetooth on and off after it being one tap away for so long. And the screen just isn't big enough. That and apples insane choke hold over everything they make.

Sorry to repost but I just thought of this and thought it was kind of clever

Android is like Burger King you can have it your way
IOs is like Mcdonalds everyone buys it

I spent a lil time with the iPhone 4 last year.

One reason might be is not having to worry about researching for the best Android phones(s) for the best experience. Not worrying about OS updates. Get the "wrong" Android phone ......the experience and OS updates might frustrate you.

Apple puts a priority on looks too for apps.

The look of the iPhone.

Accessories.

Bad experiences with their last Android phone(s)

Me...I heard the iPhone 4S has nice reception. Hopefully that means they fixed Antenna Gate. And that would be one reason for me to look at the iPhone 4S and later iPhones.

As far as tinkering for Android and just working for the iPhone...I say this so many times..... My ex GF...this is her daily use of my Droid X1 and RAZR:

Youtube app, browsing, texting, calls, games, music player...GPS when she needs it. She just started going to the Market and Amazon Market recently. She didnt know how to set alarms on my RAZR. I told her to go to screen with the the time that had the Christmas background and click on the time (it was Beautiful Widgets with a Christmas theme) She surprised me...by sticking the Alarm icon on a home screen. She she took it upon herself to look in my app drawer, find it and place it out there.

Android can be as easy, simple or as complex as you want it to be. And there are enough troubleshooting forums for the iPhone to say that in reality...it doesnt just work. Its like any smartphone. It might do some things better than other phones...but it does has hiccups too. Co worker was showing us his kids school play...his iPhone 4 froze. Someone eventually helped him get back to the home screen. I always remind myself of that when I hear the iPhone "just works", never reboots, never freezes, etc.

FWIW...my RAZR froze once so far and had to be reset. I was using an off brand car charger and trying to use the phone in the car while it was charging. My DX1 went thru some freezes and reboots as time went on....but the first months were stellar. Freezes and reboots on my DX1 went hand in hand.

I've got both the Nexus and the iPhone 4s, and have been back and forth more times that I want to count. But, now that the Nexus is out, I've finally got an Android phone I can live with again. Everything Verizon offered in between the Nexus and the Droid 1 were crap IMO. :) Way too much massaging by the manufacturers and way too glitchy. That's what sent me to the iPhone in the first place. I don't root nor install custom ROMs. I want a phone that functions well "out of the box".
