Permanently deleting messages

I have a friend with a droid x. even when he deletes text messages they are still appearing in his recent folders . . . how can he get rid of these. once he deletes them, shouldn't they be gone forever? Help! I think they even show up in his universal inbox after deletion. thanks!

Yikes, I am not sure. He isn't much better technology wise than I am. He said it pops up on his home screen like a widget. I doubt he downloaded any apps. He went into contacts and hit clear all - that seems to have worked . . .maybe . . . . Thanks --- if it doesn't work, I will try again.

i dont know if i should be creating a new topic for this but this is related to email. i delete my hotmail emails and they disappear from the droid but not on the hotmail server. is there a way to force through deletes on your webmail clients?
