Just fyi, 2 mil is 0.004% of their 2010 revenue. For some perspective.

Of whose total revenue? And is it total revenue? I don't see how home internet, television, and home phone revenue would apply to this.
Regarding all of this, I spent the last 48 hours actively preparing counteractive measures and voicing my opinions on twitter. But at the end of day two after relentlessly strategizing and stressing over all this I came to a basic conclusion.

I am kind of fustrated I spent so much time on this, I could have had WugPort v4.7 out today.
When the time is right I will release what I came up with but more importantly starting tommorow I will resume hacking, modding, and theming my phone... and even more importantly I will get back to developing WugPort and helping out the community. I am sorry I was MIA today on the forums but this whole issue got me very fustrated and was all I could think about. The community should however be aware that I do in fact have a plan. One that has not yet been discussed, one that has not yet been exercised, one that I literally have worked on to a degree comparable to my best school work, something that I am proud to call a comprehensive plan. I think this is something that I should keep close to my chest and save it for when the time is right.
I felt it was my duty to the community to see to it that we had a counter measure in order, well now I have one, and I have effectively worn myself out mentally and physically, but for what? As a preemptive tactic to fight speculations? From now on I much rather get my information directly from the source. I should have been able to distinguish the difference between the real thing and a leak. Leaked information is like the game telephone. That is all I will say on this for now.

What you guys don't get is that VZW more than likely MANDATES the locked bootloader. If Motorola cannot sell their smartphones at VZW at all, they'll make A LOT less money than if a few thousand people boycott them. Even if 100,000 less people bought the D1 it would've been a success. Yet as good as the phone was, without the VZW advertising machine it would've been another g1 or mytouch.... Basically an also-ran against iPhone.
Honestly guys, the iPhone has a huge dev community, and for some reason Apple cannot seem to lock it down. For customization and hacking iPhone 5 may really be the best bet amongst the dual core phones... Then again, with VZW apparently driving the iPhone train now, I imagine it will be locked down soon as well (then Motorola will sue Apple over the encryption).
(Maybe SPRINT will have "Hong Kong" specials with unlocked bootloaders)

Good, I also think threatening them will do you no good. No lawsuit scares them, their lawyers would literally just spend your lawyers into the ground.
I honestly think your best course of action is one that was already suggested. If you could get a petition of one million that says they will pay a premium to VZW for an unlocked device with a restricted return policy, it could get their attention. That one million signatures would probably equate to one hundred thousand sales... If they could add that on top of say the D3s sales, I think it may be something they'd at least look into.

I think the petition would fail, thats why I made a new plan. It appears you are adamant on being very negative or assuming that I am naive and haven't actually thought this out. I have no interest in arguing proof of concept with you. I have a plan that I think that will work, you are free to call me liar, or tell me I am wrong, or it won't work. But you have absolutely no idea what I came up with, so just call me a troll and move on.
