What I do not understand is that I have a G (54 Mbit) Wilress access point so why is this nearly 9 times slower?
The Wireless speed is always going to be slow from my house since the best I ever get from verizon is 2 bars. That's the reason I have verizon - all other carriers are NO SERVICE where I live.
Remember, the speed of your router is only what you'll get (theoretically) on your lan, not from the internet. What a lot of people don't realize is that while it's CAPABLE of 54 MB/s, in reality, it's closer to 22 MB/s on 802.11g and around 6 MB/s on 802.11b. If you want faster rates on your lan, you'll be better served with an 802.11n spec'd device.
Bummed I missed the OP and the bumps on this thread.
What on earth is the deal with the wide variance in wifi? If any Droid owner can get 8mb/s on wifi, given roughly same speedtest server load, we should all be able to get 8mb/s on wifi. It proves that the device is capable of that speed. If you take a laptop on wifi and get a 14mb/s speedtest from the web site using the same server as the app is using on a Droid, then the limit is not your ISP connection or your wifi access point or router.
Obviously, I'm getting a garbaggio wifi result. My last was 3.09/0.99. This don't make no sense none.
