Pre-ordering vs buying on release day?

I put my original Droid up to that picture and just felt sad =P

It's crazy to think though that the OG is only 3.7'' and the i*hone is 3.5''.

I hate to say it but I bailed on the OGD for the DX back in January. I needed the big screen! Bigger is better!!

If you have an OG and are wondering what the size of the GN's screen is compared to what you have:

It's the size of the entire phone, except for the lip at the bottom.

Never stood in line for a phone, but I have a console. I'm guessing this won't be as hard to get as the iphones, I'll just wait a week after launch and get one. Only reason I waited for the console was because I knew it could have taken 6 months to find one, with that said it was about 5 months after the 360 came out before I seen one at the store.

Pretty sure the Droid 1 and Droid Bionic did at my local stores.

But it's usually fairly easy to get one if you take the initiative, I've never understood per-ordering if you don't get it until 2 days later, seems counter intuitive.

so all of you mofo's stop talking about the g nexus on FB & twitter so we can walk in our local VZW and buy it without any incidents

:D

I'll be pre-ordering for sure. One thing to keep i mind is Verizon usually ships the phone out so you GET it on the release date. I pre-ordered the iP4S for my wife... I got a notice that it shipped out 2 days before the Apple release date, and it arrived the morning of the official release... so as long as they handle this phone the same, pre-ordering should get it to you just as fast as going to the store...

That is not what happened with the Droid Bionic, most people got theirs 2 days later, I know that for a fact. Just something to keep in mind.

And the store may open early for my special new phone, no way is the delivery truck dropping that off to me at or before 6 or 7 am. i want the phone Now.

if android put out one phone a year the line would be 10 days deep but w the amount of phones they produce there wont be any lines or shortages

As much as I want this phone life has taught me to be patient and wait. It results in greater happiness 9 times out of 10 and keeps me from doing stupid things... At least thats what my wife tells me..

This may apply to a lot of things but certainly doesn't apply to technology. It moves too fast, greater happiness is always right around the corner. This is one reason why I'm always a year or two behind in having the latest and greatest, I jump on something and 3 months later something better drops and so on and so forth.

That is going to be one hell of a bump in screen real estate.

I am undecided on whether I'm going to pre-order or not. I may wait to see how the bugs & battery life are for this phone.

I would rather chew through my own arm than buy another phone in the store! I love buying online!
1. I don't have to repeat my name and address a 100 times while the worker hunts and pecks on the keyboard.
2. I can see that my plan won't (likely) get screwed up, like it did EVERY time I've bought a phone in the store.
3. There could be 1 customer and 10 employees, and I'll still have to wait 20 minutes for my name to be called.
3. Plus I'm using someone else's upgrade, and I'm pretty sure the complexity of that transaction would make the salesperson's head explode.
