Questions to Rezound Owners

I just tried it, it didn't work for me. I never got the dialog box asking which launcher I wanted to use, it simply restarted Sense.

Download Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher or Go Launcher and try it again. It may be that the Sense UI disables that stock Gingerbread UI to disallow that as an option and since there are no other launchers to choose from it defaults back to Sense. That must be how Atomicwedgie got Go Launcher to work. Please post your results.

I went into the VZ wireless store today to check out the new slew of phones out. I gotta tell u if I wasn't waiting for the G-Nex to drop, I would definitely pick up the Rezound. It looked really nice and size looked perfect. Felt great in the hands too. The Razr I didn't care for too much. And didn't really spend too much time with the Bionic either. But the Rezound really looked nice.

Believe you're correct. It never offered the option on my Inc or Inc2 until I actually has a secondary launcher installed. Beyond that, waiting on word for rooting on it. Man I wish they would hurry up. This is actually my second choice behind the Nexus. I've gotten very used to SPB Launcher and actually like it over Sense.

That did result in having a choice after stopping Sense, but the choice was between Sense and the launcher I had just downloaded (Launcher Pro). I was hoping to simply remove that layer entirely and interface with Android directly after stopping Sense.

I am back with sense, I actually like it, I was just hoping to experiment a bit.

Ahhh, no, you can't remove Sense entirely. When the option to select your Launcher comes up, it should give you a check box to see if you want to make it the default. But no, you can't turn off Sense completely, just the launcher. The rest will continue running in the background.

Thanks for the info. I had heard that there was a way to interface directly with Android without going through a manufacturer's skin.

I'm sticking with Sense then, if I must have a launcher, I'll stick with it.

I am assuming that Sense is analogous with KDE or Gnome, is this correct?

You're pretty much right. And yes, to me, Sense is the best stock overlay out there. The others are improving but Sense seems to be the best.

I usually stick with it, but tinker occasionally.

Any heads up on battery life so far? I know it's still early.

As of right this second I'm on my 11th hour and my battery level is at about 32% remaining. I have been using it more than I will eventually consider "normal" since it's still in the "new toy" phase.

It has been on my WiFi network most of that time, but I have ventured out a bit. No 4G in this area yet, so I have the radio set to CDMA only. I was also using Bluetooth when driving for about half an hour.

Same here I have the droid razr but I wanna get the rezound I'm a heavily user how is the battery life on it
Razr take along time to charge
Can you give me any info on the rezound please

At least you can get an extended battery for it. It may look a little silly but it's an option, unlike for the Razr. It doesn't look near as bad as the TBolt's ridiculous extended battery. The reviews I've read say roughly 10 hours of moderate usage with LTE enabled, much shorter under heavy usage for the standard battery. Not great, but better then expected for an LTE phone. Good to hear about the 11 hours on WiFi mainly. This is much better then my overclocked OG Droid. It drains like a maniac.

This will be the first time I've drained the battery this much, so I don't really know. I'm not sure I will be able to provide this info, it's likely that the battery will finish re-charging while I'm asleep tonight...

Here we go... Picked this thing up on the 15th, so far awesome device. I would grab this over that ugly over hyped Razr any day of the week. Coming from a Droid X (1), major major upgrade. We just got 4g here in Asheville, NC so there are few people on it. Man 4G is blazing fast. My battery I haven't really had a chance to say for everyday use, I can't stop playing with it. No permanent root and no S-off yet that I've found. Disappointed in that area being that's the whole reason I went with a HTC. It will come in time, I have faith. The screen on this phone on paper should be better than the Gnex. I know, I know bold statement. I am in with anti-pentile screen users. It is said that the thunderbolt battery is the same so I picked up a spare on ebay for $7.30 on ebay. I'd rather swap a battery than make my phone twice as big. Should be here in a day or so and I'll confirm that. I'm using the ICS theme on ADW and it looks amazing. I pulled the AOSP home launcher from 2.3.5 and it works flawlessly on here as well. If they put the app launch on the right side in Sense I'd use it but too annoying for my liking on the left. The phone is only slightly heavier than my DX. Roughly the same size so it feels great in hand. The ear buds work well and sound great on the phone as well as other devices. Definitely a perk to have when wanted. GPS locks in fast haven't used much only tested for a minute. Haven't tested bluetooth with my Icon headset. However there is no bluetooth tethering to the xoom. Bummer, waiting on root so I can use wifi tether. Any other questions fire away.

That's good news! How laggy is it with ADW?

Next problem to solve, short of rooting the phone, is there a way to at least hide some or all of the Verizon bloatware on the Rezound? Maybe ADW can do this?

I come from stock Froyo and just love the minimalism of it and the total lack of bloatware. I've never used another UI. So, other then Launcher Pro my experience is very limited.
