R.I.P. GNex

How do you have it act as your bedside clock?

The only way I know is to tap the time and then tap it again to make it darker.

But I'm worried about burning in the screen.

I, too, have not rooted and go all day without charging. It charges over night while acting as my bedside clock.

Motorola :

Release the Bionic ...

6 weeks later release the RAZR....

Just after the holiday push to sell RAZR's release the RAZR MAXX.

What's next? The RAZR Super Max?

My local store sales say they never sell any Bionics anymore - they steer everyone to the RAZR.

Of course now they won't talk about the MAXX because people are still buying the RAZR. I was in there at the front desk chatting - didn't realize someone was buying a RAZR and the guy said the MAXX would be $350..

I said $299, announced.

Luckily the customer was oblivious.

do you know about Alarm Clock Plus?

It's an absolutely fantastic app. Ultimately customizable. I've even changed the font color to the ICS-style "Cyan", or whatever it is. I've also got it set to start up automatically when it's plugged into a power source.

It also has a "screensaver" mode that is just the time, and it moves every minute (or however often you set it) so that there is no possibility of screen burn.

(which- by the way- is screen burn a possibility on the GNex? I thought we didn't have to worry about that anymore)

Haven't heard of such a battery yet, but looking forward to this type of technology. I'm guessing it's still being researched or it's too expensive for consumers right now?

Also, I get great battery life with my Nexus, though we are all different types of users. Hope you enjoy the Razr Maxx when it comes out

Ya it's still in development phase I think the price spike of silver put it on the back burner.

I would use the screensaver mode with the oled screen. There can be a memory effect.

I've got the screensaver mode set to turn on at 10 minutes. Do you think that's too long, or is that safe?

Probably fine. Obviously the status bar icons and soft keys are on for much longer than that at a time. But I'd still have it turn on immediately as long as it's not distracting. Either way it's probably nothing to fret over.

OP...I got an idea for ya

LET YOUR BATTERY DIE!!!!

I just got mine a few days ago. I, like you, was mad as hell looking at my battery drop rapidly. I charged yesterday afternoon...put on Tune Radio Pro...and in 2 hours I was at like 40%!

Phone is at is dimist. CDMA only checked. Blah blah blah.

So....I told myself...I'm going to let this battery just DIE.

about 14 hours later...still ain't dead!!! So that tells me it just ain't calibrated properly. I even woke up, browsed the net, checked emails, and streamed radio while cooking before the game today.

I've been on 4% for like...2 hours now.

I'm sure after a few complete battery drains it'll be normal

You only need to drain it once. That lets the phone know where the cutoff voltage is and it will be calibrated on the subsequent charge. Repeatedly draining it is unnecessary and not good for it.
